I have a Hotwheel F430 "exclusive edition" which seems to mean that they applied a yellowish tint to the windscreen and headlights.  Does anyone know if this is removable to get them back to clear?  Maybe wet sand and polish?  Or is it molded into the plastic itself?

If it's the one I think it is, then there's no yellow plastic in it originally. I think yours probably sat under sunlight for some time, causing the plastic to go yellow. There's no fixing that, as far as I know, other than replacing the damaged bits.

And the windscreen alone is a pain to replace, it's actually riveted on the inside of the roof. They're still going quite cheap those F430, you might as well buy another one.

This is the one.  Interestingly the engine cover is still perfectly clear.  I guess the seller misled/lied to me on why they were yellow :(

Can't see the picture either, Yes, I can see your picture now. That yellowing is definitely sunlight damage. Even the paint looks a bit faded.

Here's a quick shot of my F430 for you to compare with yours. This is how it should look like:

Thanks. Yours looks like the HWE version?  Mine is standard Hot Wheels.  But I agree there's something wrong here with mine :(

Nope, mine is the Foundation version, just like yours. The Elite version has the half door windows and other details.

Here's the Elite (HWE) version, this one belongs to Alex:

I've not seen Yellowing from sunlight before. I know that on older models the windows go milky so you can't see through them. This is a new one on me!
I know that they did race cars with Yellow tinted headlights, but this isn't that.

I think maybe Mattel used the lowest grade plastics on the cheaper 1:18 range. I have a 360 Modena and a 550 Maranello gone just like that, but in that case it wasn't even direct sunlight, but years of summer heat in the attic.

Oh yes, that will be the 360 Challenge with the Hot Whees livery, and the 458 GT2 #61, with the American flag livery.

To be honest that's why I thought they were yellow as well :)  Tried a few different cleaners/etc on them today as a last ditch and no change.  Definitely completely through the plastic itself.

Who other than HWE makes a nice diecast F430 that is more readily available today?

One thing you can try, but probably only on the headlights, brake fluid. I know that that strips colour out of plastic and as they were originally clear it might put them back to as they were, or it might mess them up!!

You would need to strip the model down & the lights, so you just had the Yellowed lenses before you try it.
