The model had a broken hinge on one of the doors, a missing taillight, unglued driver's side window and speedometer, and a broken antenna.

Great.

Back, this goes. Ridiculous how bad QC is, even at this price range.

What a shame, good thing you sent it back and fingers crossed the replacement should be O.K.

I know you must have been too pi$$ed off to notice any of the proper details, but did the detail on it really look good, and does the front bodywork come off?

To be honest, the model looked fantastic. The front cover comes off if you undo two screws on the underside. Detail under the front cover is minimal.

But, the horrendous QC aside (this model was shipped direct from Exoto, so I'm not surprised), the detailing is comparable with any Exoto model, and a massive step up from the old Motorbox releases.

furious detail = makes the collector furious because Exoto didn't concentrate on anything else.

I never thought about it that way, but I guess your explanation is spot on.

Hey Eug, that's terrible to hear about your model but good to hear about the model's detailing.

Was it shipped in a clam-shell box or was there any other way the damage could have occured after it left Exoto? If not, then that is scarry. :scared

Please let us know if Exoto gives you any crap about the return!

Well, it seems that the problems deal more with QC than with shipping: for example, the window and speedometer were off because they weren't glued well enough.

The model was shipped in Exoto's typical two-box packaging.

But they'll get an earful from me tomorrow.

That's incredible that their QC has fallen to that level. I get about one Exoto every month or two and it seems every one comes with some problem, but never something I can't fix and certainly with no missing parts.

Maybe the same person in charge of their Customer Service has ben promoted and is now also responsible for their QC. :scared  God forbid!

Good Luck! :cheers
