Are there any diecast 1/18th scale diecast models of the 1985 Toyota MR2? This was my favorite car back in the late 1980's. Afterwards, I rarely ever see this car around in nice shape. It was the type of car that looked like a toy.

Hi Evil,
They do have the 1/43 scale diecast models. It seems that the MR2 AW11 are very hard to find as toys. :storm

The biggest MR2 AW11 toy car that I have seen is the 1/20 Scale R/C car from Shinsei Radio Elecon, which are very rare to find. That is the only big detailed toy car that I have seen on that scale.

There a big MR2 AW11 sale on ebay, last year. The seller even had a Japanese exclusive slot car race set that had the car. Talk about rare. Anyway, here are a few pictures of my MR2 toys:

Here is the slot car set that I regret not buying on ebay, last year. However, I saw the same slot car set on Yahoo! Japan Auctions. Thus, I had asked my Japanese contact to bid on this item on my behalf. However, since I wasn't sure the the seller had the instructions booklet, I asked him to contact the seller to confirm if it was included with the set. The seller went ahead and tested the slotcar set and reported that it wasn't working. So he cancelled the auction, which made me very upset.

Actually, I have a white 1/43 MR-2 made by M-Tech models. I picked it up a few years back when I was in Japan. I will try to take a picture later tonight and post it. From what I know, MR-2's are very hard to find model and is only available in the Asian market. The details on mine match that of Minichamps or Kyosho.

b-ry89,
That's a nice model you got there. I was fortunate enough to have gotten 5 of them, with different color variations. I also, got a few models of them as well. The only thing that I need to complete my collection is that slot car set I had mentioned. The first generation MR2 AW11 are very hard to find. It was certainly a popular car. A real toy to play with.

Well I don't know about 4A-GZE ... as I never heard of that :confused ...

But it was (originally) the basic engine, 1.6l 112hp. But I had engine problems a year after I bought the car.

I told my problem to a few friends I had, at the time, that were race/drag mechanics and they told me to bring the car to them.

They've "pimped" me, a new supercharged engine to be even more powerfull. It had 223hp and was a real bomb to drive!

Man did I loved that car!

Wow...I didn't know there were five colors! The only color the store had was white and I have to say, it isn't a bad color on a MR-2  :10

Hello,
Sorry for bringing up this 'old' topic but id just thought id add to this. Well basically I have quite a few models and brochure of the AW11 first gen MR2 and I will post up some pictures tomorrow. I just think these are the best MR2's and have a really unique look and still have great performance, even by todays standards and they still look brilliant and have many people turning there heads to look at them. I also have lots of MR2 AW11 brochures and magazines which i will place pictures up on here off tomorrow.

Thank you
Jack (UK)
