I kind of struggled with the question of which sub-forum to put this in. It's kind of a truck and it's kind of a motorcycle.   :wavetowel2:
But whatever it is, it's all quirk and that's why it made it into my collection. From what I can gather, the Ape (Italian for "bee") is essentially a 50cc Vespa with two rear wheels and a truck box. Simple, yet effective.

Regarding the model, I'm not sure what to say. It's very, very overpriced (I paid $37.50!) for what you get. It looks...cheap (especially inside)...but the 1:1 isn't exactly a showcase of premium materials either. Were it, say, half that price it would feel better. Still, I'm happy to have it and I suppose you have to pay the price if you want weird stuff in your collection like I do.

Class-leading 170kg payload, according to Piaggio.

A highly luxurious cabin. I think that's a cupholder between the windshield and handlebars. Perfect straw height for Slurpees on the go!   :occasion14:

For sense of scale, it fits snugly into a short box supercrew F150!   :occasion14:

Clearly, not a model for everyone's collection. But something I quite enjoy. Thanks for looking!

Where on earth did you get that from?

Doesn't look too bad on the outside.

Nice find

Neat! I would love to get one to ad to my Vespa models, but on eBay, they currently go for $50+!!!

Where is it written that the more diecast $$$ equals a better diecast?

Very cool! It reminds me of some of the bigger versions in Taiwan. EWA had 1:43 scale models very similar to what you see below - I really should have bought some of these models when EWA was blowing out their stock!

BTW, I just love this picture:

Scale18.com has a few different ones. This one, one in black, and three more "Calessino" tuktuks.

I guess I did well on the price then. I wonder why the price is so high.   :occasion14:

That thing is just bizarre. For some reason that reminds me of the bodiless chassis trucks I rode in Mexico.

The price on ebay reflect that the sellers are in Japan.   :occasion14:
