I don't believe so...  I would claim jumping the bandwagon pricing for those crazy enough to buy it!

I've seen a few stores online with the pre-sale price listed in the neighborhood just above $200 US. It used to be on Replicarz's website (of course it's gone now) but if I remember correctly they had it at something like $216. At online European shops it seems the going pre-sale price is in the ballpark of 150 euro.

If anyone's interested, here's a write-up on 550 chassis #0051, the 1:1 that Schuco based their model on.

Don't know how the interest in this model is lately, but I'm still salivating for it. I emailed Schuco last month to ask if they knew when it might be coming out. To paraphrase, they said to please be patient. Due to issues with their suppliers in the far east, they can't give an expected date for the models release.

Sigh. Back to the wating game, I guess.

I just got the AUTOart 550 spyder panamericana so my 550 itch is scratched for now. I will still probably get the schuco if it's not too expensive by then.

Just found an auction on eBay for one sans box.  http://www.ebay.com/...=item1e6e76bfda

As badly as I want one, I'll wait for one that comes with the box as it looks like a highly detailed and therefore, delicate model that I don't want to take any chances on having it shipped w/o the manufacturers packaging.  Let's all be patient as this model surely looks to be worth the wait.  Then once it's released, we can all start impatiently waiting for their 991s to come out :gaah:

Now this is a fine 550

Haven't read anything about it before, really like that Schuco. They make excellent models.
Great in this babyblue color, the half-cover over the passengerseat is a neat detail.

I'm holding for the James Dean one.
Our house is loaded with Dean books and framed posters. (parents are big fans)
So the 1:18 model of his famous "little bastard" I'd a must.

Will this be near cmc quality???

I have this one already and I would say that it is very close to CMC quality.

I thought it may be close, due to the high price.
Diecastlegends wants £217 for it lol.
But if I buy it direct from schuco, I'll only pay around £170 ish.

This will be my Xmas prezzie to myself I think. Lol

The blue car is about £120 shipped from Hong Kong on ebay mate, UK sellers are a rip off.

Schuco are pretty smart I've got a VW T1 Porsche renntransporter from them, it's ace.

Rip off Britain. Lmao.
I always find that Germany has great prices compared to us.
I got my bbr enzo from there for a lot cheaper than what the uk wanted for it..

The blue 550 is nice, but I've been after a Dean car in 1:18 for a while.
Was looking for a maisto 550 and get the decals for it, but held back when I heard that AUTOart where making a 550, hoping they would soon after announce a "little bastard" aswell, but after seeing how much better the schuco Porsche is, and hearing about the Dean car, I have to get that. Lol.

It's a lovely colour blue mind. Never seen a 550 in that paint scheme before, always thought they were all silver. Lol.
