Latest addition, Norev Aston Martin LMP1, #007

I bought this model to match a watch I got for Christmas this year. I was searching for a Gulf liveried race car, somehting unique. I was thinking some classic Porsche's but I perfer Martini Racing. So I have to find something that Martini did not have their colors on. I found this one and thought it would be nice. This is a cool car to be made to a model, and I would love the Autoart version, but not for that type of money. Saying that this model has not thrilled me. It is sealed, this is my first sealed model, and it is a bit annoying. It really feels like a toy; wheels do not turn left or right, sounds hollow. It displays very nice, but it does not follow my theme. All but one race car is "old". The livery is great and the colors are very nice. There are some nice small details that could have easily been dismissed. Not sure if I'll keep this one. You may see it for sale soon. Still can't decide?

Pros:
Price
paint/decals
Wheels/brakes

Cons:
Sealed
Non turnable wheels
"feel"

Absolutely gorgeous! I can't wait to pick one of these up for myself. The B09/60 is such an awesome chassis design and the livery is just stunning :D

Nice Tag - I like the model too, it looks cool in the Gulf livery, plus they're great value for money.

F**k you Photobucket.

Cool watch. I feel your dilemma on this model, I've been waiting for the AUTOart version some time, but this is the first time the cost issue has halted me from buying it. Your pictures show that this cheaper Norev displays very well and I believe for tyhis car that's all that is necessary. The AUTOart has a few openable parts, but the details are just so unspectacular I sure as hell wouldn't pay an additonal 100 euros for it. So, my advice to you is, keep this one and put it in a hard to reach display space, or sell it, but don't sell it to buy the AUTOart one.

If it's not die-cast, it won't have a crumple zone

I'm liking Norevs cars.

I bought my first some days ago and was surprised with the car accuracy and overall quality/price ratio.

This one will be my next, or the 908 HDi.

I like more the black version of the Aston Martin than this Gulf livery, cause the casting of this car is not good for light colors.

Thanks, I like the watch too. Every year I get more and more watches and I think the wife got this thinking I would be done. I have to say I am. No more for me...for now.

Marbo-Zim, there is no way I would spend $200 on the Autoart. Very nice but there is more I'd take for that much. With that decision I am keeping this mode. Unless the prices one day get really high, I am not selling.

Thank you. I am not a huge fan of the modern prototype racers, but I love seeing Aston Martin racing again. And this is the best livery of the last 10 years

I never knew about Norev models until this site and I am always very happy with their models. I have a few Porsche's and they are great.  Good luck with your future Norev adds

Short comings:

sealed
no left right tire movement
the vents on the side are sealed, yes, but look bad, pictures show this
There is not even a peak into the cabin, so I get a black window
It really feels like a toy, as far as the wheels movement, hollow feel/sound.

Saying that it is a nice $50 model, and that is what I paid. Alls good though

And yes, I needed a matching model for my watch

Looks good to me....I have one incoming.

All of Norev's Prototype racers are sealed, non-steering, unfortunately.  I have a few others (Audi R10 & R15, Peugot 905 & 908, & 2 Porsche RS Spyders) & really like them, but agree that they do have a "cheap" feeling to them....problem is better versions are generally 2x more expensive.

Not much unfortunately...especially at reasonable prices.

AUTOart does the updated Porsche RS Spyders...which can occasionally be found cheap.  The others I mentioned above are all done by Spark, which are sealed resin.

The old Maisto Audi R8s are great for the price.

There's the Autoart Bently Speed 8 too - Nice car and a good model, albeit sealed.

Is possible to make some work on the car body to make it a little better? Like open or paint the grill over the front wheels and inside the lateral air intake?

What you think?

Old photos that were on that shitty website Photobucket. Moved them and reposting. I no longer own this model. It always felt like a toy, but I think they are better than a lot of the cheap models being built now. Again, these photos are old, and very early in my attempts at taking photos of very small things. Bare with me here, haha.

Interesting to read back and see your comment about the $200 AUTOart - I picked one of the AUTOart LMP1s up in a CK (I expect) sale for £80 later on, a bit of a steal I thought.

Did you ever get one?

I passed on the sale. It was in my cart for days and never pulled the triggger. I just don't collect these type of cars anymore. I think I only have one modern Le Man ptototype car, and it is pink.

Fair enough - As far as I'm concerned this was the last truly great sounding LMP, so I snapped it up

I don't have many other modern LMPs (one of the bonkers Nissans and a couple of TSM Bentley Speed 8s), but the Aston is my favourite (as it was in period).

Great model.
The norev one was the most acurate version as emans car without the front winglets on the sides.
I regret i hadnt bought the AUTOart version when it was for discount at ck back in the day.
