Thanks mrm! I now got you. Anyway, the Matt Black 458 Spider started to roll out. Check this out:

Here's the link that I found: http://www.wonderlan...ia-spider-matt/
Apart from that though I can't find anything else. If anyone have any more information, please post it here

P.S I think that the picture is just photoshopped because the rear tail lights are black, too.

Speedgear has them for $100 us with a discount of 10% and free shipping. So that wonderland site is definitely high priced. It is also nice to see that the GT2 cars will also be the same price. That makes a fantastic deal for those.

Now we just have to wait for them to hit the shores, as everything right now is basically a preorder.
There are few different sellers from HK, the usual suspects, that have the GT2 on e-bay, but when contacted, all of them say, that they will have the model on the 8th of June. I have not heard anything about when exactly the Spider is going to be available.

I have a pre-order with Speedgear for a red Spider, and it says: "Expected on or before 7/10/2012".

I saw my first 458 Spider yesterday at the St. Louis European Auto Show.  Continental Ferrari-Maserati had one on display along with the FF and a stunning 575M Superamerica.  I bought the 458 Spider brochure while I was there in anticipation of adding the diecast whenever it's released.  Normally I try to mix colors in my Ferrari collection.  Nothing against Rosso Corsa, it's just that Ferrari has such an interesting array of other colors.  I think I want the 458 Spider in red though because it is so well-suited to wear the first color one thinks of when they think of Ferrari.  I'm not too excited about matte black as a color choice, as it seems more appropriate for something like a 430 Scuderia or a 599GTO, but that's just my opinion.  I'll be very happy with a red spider!

Overall the model looks very nice, and it appears that Mattel took care of some of the issues many of us noted with the 458 Italia.  I might consider selling my black HWE Italia just because I've gotten over the "need" to have one of everything.  Typically I prefer coupes to spiders, but I love what Ferrari did with the deck/bonnet of the car.  Just as it is with the Audi R8 and Gallardo spyders, I won't miss the view of the engine even though I love glass bonnets.

Edited to add:  I don't mind if the 458 Spider diecast comes without a roof.  None of the previous Mattel mid-v8 spiders (355, 360, F430) had roofs.  I'm glad the California diecast has a roof, but that's a bit different as the roof of the California is so well-integrated with the shape in my opinion, and also because the car has as much in common with the FF as any Ferrari spider, past or present.  Yes, it was also designed with maximum top-down motoring in mind, but it doubles as a grand tourer when one takes the space behind the front seats and boot/trunk space into account.

Still no news of the matt black 458 Spider. Let's hope them to release it in all color options simultaneously or in close periods.

For anyone interested, I found this Listing for Pre-Order on EBay. This is the same seller that I bought my HWE Presentation 458 GT2 from, which I was able to make an offer on, so I saved a bit off asking price.

I will buy it when they come to United States. I can wait. Don't have to be the first one to own it.
I will save at least $35-40.

I tend to agree with you Eric, it's a gripe i have with all the HWE 458 variants....but otherwise it's a fine model and I can't fault it

...but is the reason i'm going for the yellow headlamp Le Mans livery as it's less obvious... :twocents:

Totally agree with you. Not sure why they opt for Matte Black and White. Yellow would be great. Even the blue one the FF would look great.

Should have had gloss black instead of matt, also they should have had a tan interior with the red. Looks good though

It looks impressive. Especially love the styrofoam packaging - just like the 458 GT2.  I'm definately getting this in red because it's going to look awesome next to my Kyosho R8 Spyder in red (with black interior also).

On Hot Wheels' site the following colors should come for the Spider:
W1178 White
X5485 Matt black
BCJ89 New red version and
BCJ90 Matt black
Since I have the red coupe, I don't mind a different color for the Spider, but I would like a light color for the interior. Since it's open, the details would be better observed than in an all black interior. Do you guys have an idea if Mattel plans a different color for interior?
Thanks
Dan

Knowing how red Ferrari's sell out so fast, I will get the red. Maybe 2.

I wonder if the two matt black models means that Hot Wheels will release one at the Elite level and one in the Foundations series.  Just a guess.

I really wish there were more color choices.  I agree that matte black is played out, and for some reason, I like it better on Lamborghinis than Ferraris.  So I guess I'll get the red spider.

still undecided on this, i have the red hardtop, and as much as i want the spider, i rather save up for other models. Nevertheless, I've ordered one for my cousin, so maybe that will change my mind.
