chevrolet introduced the vega sub compact in 1971 and it was the smallest car ever produced by chevrolet.its size was a sign of the times, taxes, gas and insurance prices and unemployment were all rising.so there idea was to keep americans on the road.touted as "the little car that grows on you" 360,000 bought this sub compact.this is the only manufacturer that i know of that makes this model and ertl did a splendid jod on it.fitted with mag wheels and white hood stripe it also has a lift up hatch with adjustable rear seat and coloured door panels.with a nicely detailed engine and good interior detail this model was released in 2003.if you can find one pick up, its an outstanding little model from ertl.

Nice Vega Kevin. Looks a bit smalle, like an Americanized Opel Kadett, and never got round to buying it for that reason,
but in some colorschemes (like this one :drool5: ) they do start to grow on me..... Underdogs can really bite your ankles :giggle:

Very nice model. These are getting hard to find these days. I have the pro street and Baldwin Motion versions of the Vega, but this stock one looks really nice.

If you ever get tired of this Vega, let me know.  I've been trying to find one for years!  It's truly something different and it bridges the gap between the American muscle cars and the European sports cars in my collection from that era!

Hey, I just bought one of these on ebay (in red). Not because I am a diecast collector, but because it was my first car. Perhaps you can help. Mine appears to have a hinged trunk lid, but it wont open. I am apprehensive about forcing it, but it certainly seems to be latched or majorly stuck. Any ideas, I didn't get a box with mine.

^ I had the same problem with my Ertl C4 corvette there is a plastic piece jammed between the hinge to remove it disassemble the car and rip it out with some needlenose pliers. No harm should come to the car
