    Hi Wes,

I am blown away by your engine detailing this days, adding that Tremonia kit to the Ferrari Lusso must seem so long ago for you. I took it apart a few months ago to swap the tires out and I could more of the detail without the body. I have to ask in your more recent builds, what do you use for braided line on the engine? I am working on a 360 and there are two braided lines I would like to replicate.

you know I can never remember who I sold things to, so it's good to know! As for the braided line, I use these now, they're silky and very flexible

they're by Top Studio and come in a variety of colours and thicknesses

Anyone with both the Minichamps and Autoart BMW CSL racing versions can tell me if they're roughly the same size? Doing a project and need to use some Autoart parts on the Minichamps model. Thanks!

Not sure what to do in regards to Autoart's Civic being held from release in North America. Should I go ahead and order one from overseas or wait til it is released? What if it never gets released? Has anyone in North America bought one?

Thought you had the LCD Civic? Why is the Autoart ones release being held from NA?

Nope, I have the FK2. Apparently there are some licensing issues here so I don't know if they're stuck at the border or what.

Has anyone had a chance to see a composite 2000GT by Autoart and compare it to the diecast? The latter is hard to come by and the former is still widely available. Wonder if I should wait or settle for the plastic.

Anyone else seen that japanese ebayer listing mundane models for exorbitant prices? We laugh and stuff but someone who wants to list their item will do a quick search, see his prices and set their own price high as well. Before you know it, there are 5 more with similarly artificially inflated values.

I've seen a guy from Greece doing that as well. But also some UK ebayers tend to sell e.g. their Maistos for 80 dollars and more.

Seen some tool do similar with an AUTOart Evo 9 Ralliart. It was already listed at a high price, would get purchased and mysteriously a week later, would be re-listed for around £30 more. Saw it re-listed at least 5 times each time getting pricer, artificially inflating it's value.

I remember when I did karate back in the day, the Sensei would always say it's like a bowl of hot water, if you stop heating it, it'll cool. Same with this hobby. If you stop being active, the interest wanes. Been so busy lately with other stuff and I can feel myself losing interest. Hope this doesn't lead to another big sell-off lol.

I get where some of you come from. I myself have been a bit busy these days, so not so active. But still, I am looking at my models with pleasure and not wanting to part with any of them. Just bit lazy with the pics and posting.

All good points, I think it was just a mood cause I feel good about it again and back to my modding table! Sometimes you just need to feed it. Read some evo magazine, some japanese tuner mags and I was right back in it

I had my "come-to-Jesus" moment about this hobby last year and have only bought one model since then. I would have to write and post one of my usual excessively verbose posts to cover all the things that made me decide to get out but I've been distracted by my other loves, full-size auto racing and my Yankees winning. But my sell-off (or at least, a "sell-DOWN") will happen for those items I feel I can get decent prices for. At least my next hobby will be less solitary....

You guys know of any photo hosting websites that don't compress the images? My pics are already not that high quality. Then postimg compresses them and they look even worse.

Maybe time for an upgrade to a DSLR or mirrorless camera. Phones just don't work well with all the tiny details at this scale. I've been using a DSLR this year (Nikon D3400) and it really shows; the detail is better, a lot less noise in low light and no distortion of the car as phone cameras tend to skew images.

I assume you mean professional automotive paint in a HVLP spray gun. If you're willing to go to the Ottawa region, there's a place called atelier dagenais where I've had 1:1 car parts painted. I could do it myself, but I'm out of the country until June at the very least.

I kinda don't want to walk into an auto paint shop with my silly model and ask them to paint it. It would be great if someone actually did this as a hobby. Do you live in Ottawa generally?

Is there a kind soul here from Edmonton that could help me out with a local purchase on Kijiji? Seller only accepts e-transfer, and needless to say, I'm very apprehensive about gifting money to strangers.

Another ebaytard buyer saying I listed a model as "new" (I listed it as used), and that shame on me for putting tape over the clamshell (original tape doesn't hold anymore lol) and cigarette smell (I don't even smoke!!!). Honestly guys, go through my sales thread and if there's anything you want, tell me what you want to pay and it's yours. Had enough of this shit, and want these models to go away.

One model fully came off the base and knocked around in the box, not sure how that happened, since it was screwed in tight. I'm suspecting the italian customs

Saw a pretty rare model today at a diecast shop and when I went to pay, NONE OF MY DAMN CARDS WORKED! Recently was a victim of online banking fraud, so there must be a flag or some type of malfunction. Guy on the phone couldn't help me. Told me to wait a couple days. I left the store heartbroken lol

I'm not interested in grabbing anything at this time, but it would be nice to know the name of the store to see what's available. You can PM me the name and whatever it is you're looking at and I'll avoid that model altogether if that makes you feel at ease).

the last few were from ebay canada. I did a real broad search. Just put in 1/18 in "diecast toy and vehicles" category and specified location to "only canada". Gave me 3000+ results but so many good deals.

I think the goal for every collector is to collect in a way that if you suddenly feel like you want to buy a model, but don't have funds available, you look to see which models you'd sell, and can't find a single one out of all the ones you own that you would sell. I think that's when you realize you're truly happy with your collection. But goddamn it, I want so many still.

I think the mentality behind "collecting" is that you will actually never be truly happy with what you have when you see another thing you want. It becomes a never-ending cycle. And when you've realized that, that's when you have learned increasing material possession doesn't really fulfill any substantial happiness.
