Safe to assume that none of the 1:18 Cullinans from Chinese sellers cropping up on Ebay are licensed products?

I believe Kyosho is the only company with a license to do modern RRs in 1:18.

How do sellers like zilvladimi expect to do business when they sell the same exact product as other Ebay sellers and price them significantly higher..

what about that new japanese seller that has like 6 accounts and is asking $1000 USD for a damaged (!) autoart RX-7.

Well you have the tax now on ebay as a USA citizen too which makes it harder to do business with him or some other US based sellers. But there is some Asian sellers, several Japanese and then modelcar_sam that take the cake for their sell prices and will sit on them.

Zilvladimi often offers models which have released in Europe but not yet in the USA. Also, he lists them with a "make offer" option which you should always use. But if you can wait a bit, they are always cheaper from other sources, for example, American-Excellence (the US operation of Modelcarworld in in Germany.)

My rule of thumb is think about paying exorbitant prices only if no other manufacturer makes it in the scale you want.

Gotta love delusional ebay sellers who think their grossly overpriced model they haven't been able to sell for a year is listed at "well under market value".

In this day and age of advancements in automotive lighting and technology, I'm surprised that there hasn't been much push for manufacturers to put out a model with working lights as per OEM specifications

OP raises a good point. I think it is due to legal reasons, products cannt be sold with batteries inside them because theyre environmental hazards. And you cant really design even AAA battery compartments underneath your car without sacrificing the interior.

I don't think there's a reason that models with working lighting elements and regular models as they are today cannot coexist. Sir Arun does bring up a good point though; I wouldn't be surprised if there are legal hoops to jump through when bringing electronics into the picture.

Find it very curious that Modelcar_Sam on Ebay has a continuous supply of many out-of-production and rare models in 'brand new' condition. Makes me insinuate that he probably buys large quantities at release and tries to flip them at a jacked up price later on. Or maybe just a very fortunate collector parting out his collection. His prices are borderline extortion but at least he takes nice pictures.

Haven't started a thread because he hasn't actually ripped me off (yet). Just seems like a greedy individual who's only in it to make as much money as he can off of honest collectors. Maybe ROBSMC can chime in about his experience with this guy.

Yep that guys pricing is on a whole nother level of crazy. He has another eBay name as well: fanny-8383 with some bad feedback about someone receiving an empty box.

Anyone here ever bought from scalemodel_outlet on ebay? They accepted a (somewhat) ridiculous offer I made but the 98.4% feedback worries me a little.

98.4 is good for a large volume seller. It's nearly impossible for them to keep 100% If you read the feed backs, some people will neg a seller for the dumbest reasons.

So the dealer re-release of the LBB Minichamps M2 means that the model itself wasn't actually limited to 750 pieces? Or the DE+hobby edition make up that figure..? Assuming not since they went through the trouble of tacking on the license plate to the DE.

Probably 750 originals, then the Dealer Editon just with the licence plate added (non limited ed money maker version)

Seems like poor business practice to re-release an almost identical version of a 'limited edition' model. Good for those who missed out on the initial run and didn't want to fork over $300 on ebay I suppose.

Bought three models from a Chinese seller on ebay (carstory), but he is asking $84 for epacket delivery to the US. Individual shipping is $29 per so I am only saving $3. Doesn't sit well with me somehow..am I being screwed or does shipping really cost that much?

My experience shipping the other way is that there is not a lot of economy in shipping multiples, versus individuals. Shipping tariffs have apparently figured it out, and adjusted accordingly.

That does seem really high...CarLoverDiecast, also in China, charges flat rate by the order total (before shipping) and orders under $300 are $30 flat. 3 models from any of the European stores are usually no more than $40 or $50.

could be that it's a small store that doesn't have huge discounts with the postal service provider. I know shipping from canada to overseas, the price triples for two models. Goes from $60 to $200

MB63AMG said they are rubber seats.. ABS is different, many automotive parts are made of ABS and they are strong and able to withstand extreme heat and cold. :)

It doesn't look that different quality wise to wellys 991 carrera s but yet its priced at autoart levels. Someone at Minichamps is huffing paint i think.

    1. megamo falsely claimed it's exclusive to them

    2. it's a gts, not a regular m3

    3. i've waited four months and still no word.

    so i'm cancelling.

So I emailed and they claim it's still a limited run of 600 and its not the GTS. Does anyone have further proof it is the GTS?

received my martini transporter today and i'm wondering if it's actually 1:18th scale..because none of my 1:18s fit in it. maybe it's from an era when cars were smaller?

the norev 917 that came with it didn't fit. i figure it has to be an issue with one or the other.

I think your right on the "era" thing... Cause I saw one at a hobby store and thought it looked small compared to other 1:18 scale models. But it definitely was 1:18. Hope this helps
