Hi,

Can anyone help with with sourcing a 1:18 1965 or 1966 Ford Mustang as a donor car for a conversion I have planned...

The type I need has to be a standard type mustang.. not a shelby or a fastback variety...

I know Classic Carlectables make the ones I need in their racing mustang and pony mustang varieties but they are quite expensive considering I really only need the shell as the interior/engine/wheels and running gear are going to be completely replaced with alot scratch built...

Cheers

Malik! Revell made an 1:18 '65 coupe in the early/mid '90s and re-released it two years ago and sold exclusively through Walmart for $9.95. The second release had a black w/white interior and a springtime yellow w/black interior coupes.

Sorry, I don't have any duplicates to trade, but I am sure since Walmart sold them, that Revell made a ton of them.

The main problem with this bargain level model is that it was cast as a convertible and the top is a separate part on the coupes. They did release several versions as a convertible including the pace car and a "top up" convertible version.

Good luck in your quest to find one!

Not sure what your price range is for this but this seller has CC Mustangs for around $65 + shipping, which is a good price I think. Not sure if that is still true if you are going to mod it. Anyhow, I bought one last week and I can highly recommend the seller.

hehe.. thanks for the welcomes guys.... been reading a while and checking out Domin8's pics for a while here.. also..

I had a feeling that the Classics Pony stangs would have been near the only ones available in the style I need.... although acisne that one you posted could be a go-er.... Ill have to check out ebay for one as I dont recall them ever being sold here in Australia...

Cheers for the heads-up though.

RichardM... Im going to email that guy from ebay cos 65 bucks for that model is a phenominal price cos they are 199 here in Australia.. the cheapest I found here is 169.. and the price conversion still makes it about 65 bucks aussie to buy... so definately worth a look at...

Cheers for yer help guys...

Im sure Ill have more questions in the future too as I have a few things in the planning stages of being modified at the moment.

Hey Malik.....

Mira Solido made the 64 stang and Ive got 1 (my first custom). They are only $40 or $50 AU so have a look around for them... Ive got mine for sale atm as I gotta get rid of some for more room for Aussie cars.

They dont have great detail but are good for mods...m I got a Convertible as well from same manufacturer thats also for sale

Have you checked out the ERTL range of Mustangs? There is a Mustang in there somewhere....

Good luck with the mods mate and we hope to see lots of pics from you....

Also do you need the Chev Pickup as a model too?

:danbanna Welcome aboard Malik! A local shop here in SoCal had several of the 64-66 Mustang Coupes. made by Mira/Solido for $25 bucks when I was last there about 2 weeks ago. In fact I picked up one to use as a future "project" car, as another local shop had a Auto Art Saleen Mustang S351 rag top, and a Auto Art "super stallion" Mustang on sale for $29. I picked up both with the intention of swapping out the entire drivetrain, seats, and wheels out of one of them (probabaly the ragtop) to put in the early model Solido Mustang. (I love the whole "restomod", pro-tour, hotrod style trend.) I digress...
Anyway, the point of this is, if you like, I will check my local shop, get the phone number, and can email it to you, and you can have them ship it to you for approx. $35 ($25 for the car plus $10 for shipping) Let me know if youre interested! Good luck! :danbanna
