CMC does not deserve any nomination because:

a) Its not the brand for everyone. The price bracket is aimed for the big rollers and not the mainstream collectors.
b) They only make classic cars and NOT cars of today.
c) Their limited quantity per release models.
d) Details have been the same over the years. No changes/improvements.

Rinse and Repeat for year after year.
@ a) If you buy 2 Autoarts, or 3-4 GT Spirit, or 5 Maisto exclusive...it will be the same price as a CMC

@ b) so what? Theres a market for classic cars, are they less important than modern cars?

@ c) like every high end company?

@ d) I dont understand this one, you want them to make sunroofs/led lights/a Momo steering and some BBS wheels??

CMC doesnt release a lot of models unfortunately but my bank account is more than thankful!

a) Prices look pretty competitive next to BBR sealed resins(for example!)
b) Not entirely true, but, so what? GTS don't make race cars...
c) Errrrr.... So?
d) At this level of detail, what are you expecting them to be adding? Everyone else is removing detail and you quibble about them staying at the same remarkable level?

GT, OTTO, PMA, limits and no one says anything about them. CMC does limit, but also, one model is unlimited so reproduction is possible, And they did reproduced some of their models.

For Almost Real. I'm looking forward for their relises and there is quite a bit of models I'd like to get BUT! So far we saw only few models from them and at this point for me it is bit too early to say they are the company of the year. 3-4 more models, and then sure! No 1.

Also, I don't want to nominate (still to early) but it is nice to mention that BBR promised us some models made out of diecast. So far we saw only advertisement, but I hope in 2018 we'll finally see some models.
That is so true!

I respectfully disagree. Only 2 new models from CMC this year but no-one questions their nomination, and it's Best Model Company of 2017 so AR are just as worthy as CMC. I'd prefer companies to put out a few high quality products each year than rush out a load of stuff that has various inaccuracies or poor QC (GT Spirit, I'm looking at you). The market is already crowded and I'll take quality over quantity every single time.
We should be judging companies by what they have achieved in the year. We've all been crying out for high quality opening diecasts at a reasonable price, and AR have answered that call this year.

CMC is on the market for some time and we sort of know what to expect from them. And both models more or less fulfilled the expectations. And If I am not wrong, in the past CMC didn't relise more then that. Usually they are there around 2 models. And have in mind all of these models are brand new molds. Not some old, and then just new colors or something like that.
On the other hand AR is new player, and not all of us have any their model. There is just handful of people here on forum that have their models and what will company do in the future is under very big ?. If they would already relise this year say 10 models, and half of us bought at least one model. Then OK, sure. And I'd probably vote for them even if CMC is my favorite manufacturer. But at this point, with only few models out and only few people having them. . . It is sort of too early. In particular when prices of new models are not much lower then others. For 1:18 we are talking about 180 euros, and for 1:43 70 euros. From the advertisements and stories around I had feeling their prices will be much lover (sort of half of what they are now) and it seems like that is not the case. And in this moment, only thing that makes them different then AUTOart is they use diecast not plastic. But prices, are there somewhere. . . So, I'd say one more year and it will be more clear where are they and what they are doing.

For me, this post speaks a lot of sense

Yep - CMC is my nomination also. Yes their prices have gone up but so has the rest of the industry's. CMC have done well to introduce TWO brand new molds this year, and while neither are to my taste I look forwards to future years with the hope that CMC will retain and even surpass their previous level of excellence. For me their Ferrari 250 GTO is one of the best models of recent years, the Talbot and Lancia lack the extreme detail and "fineness" of the 250 GTO. But still CMC are head and shoulders above any other manufacturer.

I have both the CMC Ferrari 250 GTO Le Mans and the Talbot Lago and I can tell you that the Talbot surpasses the Ferrari in term of details. CMC is improving with each release not doing big steps because their models are already very impressive in details but baby steps slowly pushing further their own technical limits. CMC really deserves to be encouraged because no other manufacturer is doing models like they do. Whether you like or not their latest subject matter no problem, I am sure they will eventually do another legendary car from the 60's that everyone here is craving for.

Looks like a close race so far - either Almost Real or CMC

I voted for Almost Real, but am a big fan of CMC as well. Their level of detail is unmatched, it's just that they don't offer lots of models I'm interested in. I've got their DB4 and California Spyder, as well as the Birdcage and an older Ferrari SWB. I would probably add a GTO if it wasn't that expensive. I'm not into Ferrari's, it's just that I think the California Spyder is one of the most beautiful cars ever produced - and the GTO is very iconic. The Birdcage and SWB were gifted to me, they're very nicely done but I would not have bought them otherwise. Now, if CMC would make some other older Astons, that'd be of interest to me. Or Jaguars...
But Almost Real, even though new to the market, should receive praise for their efforts. Even if they're a bit more expensive than anticipated, their models are still better value for the money than any AUTOart. And there is no denying that they are just as competitive, if not better. Sure, we'll have to wait and see if they can stay competitive, but I really do hope so, as it might have a positive effect on their competitors as well - which would benefit us as collectors in the long run.

My vote goes to Almost Real. Already have added both the LR 90 and 110 and the Bentley Continental. All of them very well executed with very nice details. Their models do remind me of autoart at their top. Engine detail is superior to any competitor on the market, very good quality control and some very nice weight on the models. Hinges on bonnet and doors are finely executed aswell.
Actually, I can't come up with 1 negative point...

CMC does deserve this titel aswell, but their models are maybe to expensive right now. I can buy 3 Almost Real models for the price of 1 CMC..

All in all, my vote goes for Norev. Unbeatable quality vs price ratio, wide variety of themes, overall a solid company with a clear and honest strategy.

Their newsletter was one of the most high-class and enjoyable pieces of work that I've seen in this industry.

Wow, this subject has encourage real debate with minimal hostility and we're hearing from people that don't often speak up. Go to it, DX'ers
!

I'll go in a direction that no one else has since it might also be considered a "niche" company, making cars that are primarily for the American market (or fans thereof): Replicarz. Though they are also swimming in the resin waters, they still manage to provide detail and quality rivaling a lot of diecasts and at mid-range costs. Their communication with the public is the best in the business with regular catalogs and Mark Fothergill's vlogs and Facebook account wherein he keeps his audience aware of release schedules, gives advance viewing during the development process of his company's products and admits if and when there may be delays and why. Member discounts are worth the price of admission as well. And direct from the horse's (Mark's) mouth I hear that us fans of a certain legendary sports car series (rhymes with "Pan-Am") will be thrilled at a release in 2018, so from time-to-time they listen to their customers about what they want.

Not much else I can ask for from a model company!
