Wow, I just head a peek at your collection/cabinet of model cars and must say its probably one of the most tasteful I've ever seen.

I'm not too familiar with CMC, so just wondering how their models with racing decals are perceived vs. the ones without? I know for the 275GTB/C, the racing ones are all limited editions, but do they retain their value as much or even better than the street version? I'm considering putting in a pre-order soon, given the pre-order discount.
Thanks man!

The debate about models with racing livery vs models without is really a matter of personal preference. Generally though, i think the ones with racing livery have appreciated more in value because they tend to be limited editions. I also think there are a lot of racing enthusiasts out there that prefer to collect models that are based off of actual chassis numbers with a racing history. There are exceptions to this though such as the red ferrari GTO. Its more sought after than the ones with racing livery. I have a mix of both in my collection and more often prefer the street versions without the livery. I try to avoid having too much of one color though because i value variety and it makes for a more eye catching display. If I had a collection of 1:1 classics in my garage, they wouldn't be the same color.

In the real world a 250 GTO with a significant race history is worth the most.

And race car models that are offered without any markings are pointless to me, they represent competition cars and are useless without their colours.
That's my opinion of course.
It's like models of cars that were cigarette sponsored when raced - I dislike smoking intensely, but if there was ciggie markings on the cars, I want it.
I have to admit to having such an unmarked model, bought in error.....

I kind of want one as it's one of my all time favourite cars in real life, and I've seen a couple of them.
If the model didn't have the flag poles on it I might get one, in Black of course!
Considering the cost of buying such a car and the bills for maintenance to keep one in good running order, I suspect only those travelling behind some official flags could afford the original.
CMC are a German based company, you could probably ask them if the flag pole stems could be removed.
When ordering one from Mercedes Benz I am sure a great deal of customisation was available as (expensive) options.
I imagine CMC can offer the same.....

I saw the black Pullman today with the red interior and it definitely is bright red. Nothing subtle about it.
I think it's fair to say that 'subtle' is not the best word to use about the Pullman - in model or real life.
Nor about the kind of people who owned or were driven around in them.
'Crass' about sums it up for me, yet I still like the sheer audacity of the car - and the model.

The beige car is 'period correct'.
The metallic blue car is a modern paint job, and looks like a car that competes in historic events..
If I was paying the usual CMC prices, it would have to be a replica of a car that existed at around the time of introduction.
This is important to me personally, I always prefer originals than modern overhauls in scale.

It looks as though there's a new version of the black car, with American side markers and a blue interior.
And since it also seems to come with a small television, the price will probably reflect the 'added extras'....
That's the Elvis version with very dark blue

OK.
I wonder if it comes with a Elvis branding how much it will add (even more) to the price. :>)
How many of these cars did Elvis own?

All pullmans have six doors. Red baron is the same story.

I don't think it was ad here but White Swan (white pullman) use to belong to John Lennon, Red Baron to Hilton Family and blue is one that Elvis use to have. Except color and few details non of them looks like real thing.
Too right.
This is an image of the John Lennon car, and CMC didn't notice no side marker lights - and it's right hand drive.....

I don't understand why the Landaulets even existed in real life.
Many of the hard roof cars were owned by governments to transport visiting dignitaries.
Others were used by dictators.
Having an open section would have made anyone of importance a nice target for a gunman.
I haven't seen any suggestion that the pop stars of the day had one - even showman Elvis.
However, looking at Wikipedia some of these versions were used by notable people.
The article also mentions a 'Presidential' roof version, and I wouldn't be interested in such a version of the CMC either.....
