Now that's a prope C type. I wasn't happy with the autoart (contrary to my profile pic) back when it was the only option. This is very good news for a lot of collectors

There are at least two existing 1:18 models with working soft top.
Maisto 3 series Cabrio
Kyosho clk Cabrio dealer edition.

Anyone knows more?
Well, Alfa 6C from CMC actually has a working soft top. It is ugly but it is working.

Are you sure? Not according to this review.

oh hey that's my review! haha takes me back. I saw a pic somewhere of the top being undone but it looked like crap so my conclusion was that yes, you can open it but it won't look good. It's meant to stay folded

that vent above the rear wheel looks like those tacky chrome stick on pieces people buy at canadian tire (halfords in UK) and plaster all over their cars, usually backwards

Well from past personal experience, back when I actually used to collect CMC models, I never compared them to pictures of 1:1s. The thought never crossed my mind. I didn't really care about accuracy. The only reason I knew some things were inaccurate was because of people on the forums. And before I joined the forums, I had no idea. The vast majority of collectors never join the forums, another chunk never take them out of the box.

Okay I see a few of you are wondering why the quality and parts count went down, so I'll explain. Several years back a model of theirs faced a return rate of something like 40%, according to a local retailer. I can't remember what it was - either the Mercedes truck or the Birdcage rolling chassis. It wasn't the first one to suffer from that either. Unfortunately when you have almost 2000 parts, it's a high probability that at least one will fall out. So the retailer said, as a way to combat this and improve shipping "survival rates", they were going to reduce parts count, which we're seeing now. It's as simple as that.

In itself, the reduction in the number of pieces does not bother me more than that. The sloppiness of the manufacturing quality (paintwork in particular), the approximate design of the body lines and some anachronistic aberrations on these classic models are much more annoying, in my opinion.
yeah I agree. While I don't collect CMCs anymore, at one point I did have ~25 of them and you're right, they did start to decline at the Zagato Aston
