2021 Model of the Year - Motorsports - BUDGET. This is for models which cost under $100 / €100 and for prices that the dealership would charge, not what a re-seller charges.

The rules:
  • Each model must match the category it is entered. It is not my responsibility or the mods to figure that out for you.
  • Every nomination will be accompanied by one (1) non-copyrighted image of the model. Pictures from manufacturers are OK, resellers pictures are allowed this year providing they haven't got large watermarks on them, or a watermark right across the model. You your own pictures or another members if they are OK with that
  • Maximum picture size will be 1024 X 768
  • Each model must be released in the year 2021..........not December 31st 2020 or on its way to retailers on the 31st of December 2021. It must be released and available to the public within the 2021 year.
  • There will be a budget Classes and high-end Classes nomination thread for each; this is for the retail price, not a special deal you got through a seller or manufacturer, don't try and sneak a CMC Maserati in the budget category
  • Each category must have at least five (5) nominations or I will start a voting thread.
  • Any nominations that does not follow the previously mentioned rules will not partake in the voting
The most important rule
  • Enjoy and please participate. This is what will make this event a lot of fun. And keep all discussion about the models, not tastes. We all have our favorites marques, but this is about the best model, not car.
Thank you all for reading & hopefully this year we can beat last years participation

1/18 Norev Renault Clio Williams 1993 Tour De Corse. A fully opening model (doors, hood, trunk) for £60 what a steal!! It came out a couple of weeks ago. I got one and think it's cool. It will fit in well with all of of my other Renault Clio models.

1/18 Schuco Jagermeister Porsche 934 Nurburgring 1976. this one also came out recently and has been selling fast. Another sub £100 model. Most places are about £85 (which is what I paid) but one seller had two of them at £75, all opening again. What a steal! I got one of these too.

That Porsche came out a while ago didn't it? I remember seeing it in store like 5 years ago. Was this a re-stock?

The 934 is the same model with a different race number.
The first version was from the Nurburgring 300k EGT event (April 4th) car #GT53.
This new version represents the GP v Deutshcland race winner (August 1st) car #24.

Duh!
It wasn't my intention to cause the Schuco 934 to be disqualified. :>)
I just wanted to put the model in it's correct historical motorsport context......
I also bought one to go alongside my GT53 version.

Oh shit!!! I forgot about that part of the rules. I was just excited to add a couple I'd bought that had been released recently.

I'm going to discuss it.

Hi all,

After discussing it, we have decided the remove that rule. We want to achive the most participation we can and having that rule (which we repeated from last year & before) limits the nominations that can be made.

Solido's Porsche 936 from 1981.

There was a spate of these (Spark and BBR), but you can pick this one up for under 40 Euros and it's excellent for that sort of price.

Plus a nomination for CMR's Mazda 787 from 1990, just for the unusual livery.

It's not perfect (perhaps unsurprisingly, it's in 1991 spec, not 1990), but the differences are minor and for the budget price, it's nice to have a different livery of this great Group C racer.
