Hi Guys,

I have a 2017 mini champs 991 gt3 with a broken window and wondered if anyone could help point me in the direction of a place I could source a replacement in the south of the uk?

Either buy a new one or a different coloured 911 and swap the window over?

would anyone know if other 911 variants may share the same rear window?
Thanks

Hello and welcome!

That's a shame, it's a very nice model that one.

These Minichamps 992 are beginning to get hard to find and quite expensive, so I don't think buying another one only to extract the rear window is the best thing to do.

The way I see it, you have two options:

1) Glue back the broken piece, and live with that ugly crack showing - the crack on the window, that is

or

2) Make a new one out of acetate. You can buy acetate sheets at arts and crafts shops, or online. They're available from A1 to A4 sizes, and the thickness is measured in microns.

I believe 300 microns would be more than adequate and still not so thick that you couldn't cut it with scissors. Get the old window off the model, tape the old piece together and use it as a template to cut out the new one.

To make the black contour around the edges, you can mask around with hobby masking tape and use a black marker to do the job.

This may be too obvious, but have you checked AutoArt Spares?

I would suggest you to glue the broken glass together. Then trace it with a masking tape and use a Pepsi can transparent bottle or any thick transparent plastic bottle (I did use a Isopropyl alcohocol bottle in one of my case). If cut well should fit perfectly.
