I have that model in my Customer White sub collection.

Looking forward to your repaint.

Any other mods contemplated while it’s apart?

hmmmm I wanna make all those vents glossy carbon. Also I wanna respray the carbon tampos with 2K clear. Maybe get rid of the rubber harness on the seat? I also wanna do some work on the engine as it's quite bereft of detail I'm sure you agree

Alright time to take a look

Problem is the windows have these lines on them

so I removed the one in the front

will do the rear later

Meanwhile tried on some wheels. They're 21" and look massive, but once painted should shrink in size I'm hoping. If not, I'll go down to 20"

Looking good!
Can you tell me what you used to remove the paint on the windshield?

Thanks!

just some 3000 grit microfiber cloth followed by the tamiya compounds coarse, fine and finish
Thanks!

I’ve got a project that needs to be done that way.

Will get some of that.

Alright few more changes

installing an additional seat and ripping out all the racing gear

The blue harnesses are meant to go with the blue wheels

Speaking of which. The wheels are Advan GT, in gargantuan 21", but the dark colour shrunk them slightly as I anticipated

The entire interior including the roll cage was silver. I decided to repaint the interior millenium jade like the outside, and the roll cage gunmetal to hide its presence somewhat

Alright time for some updates

Spent several hours on this. I think there are about 20 separate decals here

Airbox

Carbon roof, 2K clear, polished etc

works well with this paint

Nuts and washers for the engine bay

PE bracket for the fluid reservoir

Heat shielding for the firewall

Carbon hood vents clear coated

I decided to repaint the strut bars in gunmetal to match the rollcage

Carbon intake thing also cleared

Bolts etc added to the strut bars

Did some plumbing etc. That giant philips screw holds the steering linkage in place and will be obscured by the intake thankfully

Now just waiting for the clear on the intake to cure. Not much more detail to add, even the real thing doesn't have much of it. But still better than this!

you know, i always have wondered what it would look like if you took that molded carbon texture and just clear coated it. I know the decals look closer to the real thing but there's something about the way that molded stuff shines in the light that makes me curious to know if clear coating it would get it looking closer to the decal method.

Someone cleared carbon tampos before and it looked great. Carbon texture however - probably not gonna look that good considering the clear won't have a smooth surface to go over
