In response to a request in the shoutbox concerning banner size guidelines from Racer 6c, I went back in the forum and found them. Since Justin took over the forum, we haven't been enforcing them too severely, but I've noticed some of you are way over the limit. I'd appreciate it if you'd take the time to bring them down to a more manageable size (at least close to the guidelines)...if nothing else the forum looks much tidier then. A banner doesn't have to be huge to look good or to get your point across...just go back and look at some of the outstanding ones members have used and/or submitted to the contests over the years. The bandwidth issue and longer load times aren't really a factor any more, since I don't think very many of us are on dial-up, but as I said, when most of us have fairly uniformly sized banners, the gigantic ones or the occasional multiple banner approach just doesn't look good.
So, here's the guidelines...
10. Signature Banners
A 'signature' is attached to the footer of every message you post unless you choose to check the box that allows you to omit the signature in the message you are posting.
You may test your Signature in the DX Banners and Signatures Forum.
To protect the integrity of the forums layout, Signature Guidelines(Facts) are as follows.
jpeg Signatures
Maximum size should be 610x150 & 55KB Limit.
Anything over this is discretionary and is subject to be removed.
Animated Signatures (gif & png)
Maximum size should be 350x150 & 55KB Limit.
Animated signatures require longer load times and pull more bandwidth, therefore anything over the aforementioned will be removed with out notice.
Hosting of Signature
Please do not host/upload your signatures on DX's Servers, please use your own server or an alternative host for this.
Any banner found to be hosted on DX Servers will be deleted without notice to the member.
