My next one is the Challenger I - a land speed record car by American hod rod specialist Mickey Thompson.
The Challenger I was powered by 4 supercharged Pontiac and on Sep. 9th 1960 Thompson reached 406mph one way at Bonneville flats - beating the 400mph threshold for the first time ever. However the gods of Bonneville can be cruel and the car failed on the second run back. So Thompson never held the official LSR.
Nevertheless the Challenger I is amongst my top 3 favourite LSR cars and Replicarz did a very impressive 1/18 model.
This thing is really huge and heavy - sealed resin unfortuantely. Just imaginge how fascinating the engine bay of this record car would have been...
