Lately I noticed the Bentley Mulsanne Dealer Edition (Kyosho) on sale in many shops (around 130 €). I was tempted but the colour kept me from buying, I have too many blue Bs already. Other colours available? Oh yeah, the Speed in Rubinho Red, nice! But 180 € at lowest price? No, thanks!

Then I stumbled across the low-budget Rastar. Not that bad looking! And I love modding simple diecasts to a higher level.
So I bought this for only 28 €!!!

Best value for money I've seen for a long time!
The shutlines are not that tight but in many other details it's equal or even better than Minichamps or Kyosho.
Front grills are open mesh, working suspension and sharp detailed interior.

Could be worse, no?
Of course there's some room for improvement, like paint, wheels, etc. Let's do it!

Next surprise when I opened it: nearly everything is screwed, nothing heavily glued! So it was fun to dismantle it in less than 10 minutes!

have you ever seen such an interior on Maisto's price level??

What happened then?

- repaint the body Rubinho Red
- repaint the interior (main hide Portland / second hide Fireglow / trim Piano Black), add fabric belts in matching colour
- blacked grille mesh
- darkened/detailed head- and rearlights
- flattened front and rear emblem for better fitting
- chromed brake discs
- wheels from GT Spirit's GTC V8 copied in resin, handpainted
- new license plates

And here it is: from bargain to beauty!

I cover the fresh painted body with the top of a display case. The varnish is drying very quick (5-10min). Usually no chance for dust.
If there's still a flaw I polish with Micro Mesh (#4000, 8000 + 12000).

Gorgeous! You did an amazing job. I wonder if the perforated mesh grilles can be swapped with the solid pieces on the Kyosho.

Epic job. It looks like a nicely detailed base model, but it's one of the least interesting colour and trim combinations they could have chosen. The upgrades are a huge improvement; great choice of colours and top quality work.

Another top job Raidou! The Rastar Mulsanne has always been tempting to me, might have to get one now! Well done mate!
