Last year the iconic M3 turned 30 and BMW celebrated this anniversary with a limited edition of M3 sedan painted in traditional Macao Blue.
When the 1/18 miniature of M3 Competition was announced by BMW Lifestyle it was listed in black, white and blue at first.
Of course me (and probably anyone else) expected it to be the anniversary model.
It's a complete mystery why BMW changed that to grey, white and orange instead and passed on that chance to give us a nice model of 30th edition.
From that day it was my plan to realize it myself, because I want that milestone in my collection!
Here's what I did:
- repaint in genuine BMW #250 Macao Blue
- replaced the close kidneys by open ones taken from GT Spirit M4
- painted the rims anthracite, polished the front and put on lower profile tyres, also lowered the suspension
- chromed the brake discs
- detail painting on headlamps and taillights
- replaced small plastic exhaust tips by larger metal ones
- put on dealer's plates
- seats painted in anniversary spec. (blue/black)
