Next paint job:

BMW M5 Touring (E61) Individual • Cognac met.

OttO did a quite good job on this but some things left for me to refine.
First of all grey over grey looked too boring in my eyes, I like unique colours!
So I decided to repaint it in #W98 Cognac met. and interior in Cognac Brown as well.
For full color trim inside I was inspired by G-Power Hurricane RR.

Further I replaced the wheels by Kyosho M6, attached missing roof rails (from Kyosho E91), detailed the colouring of headlights and blacked the kidneys.

Maybe I'll swap the exhaust tips with metal tubes.

Another great modded BMW, I really like the additional roof rails. A minor detail but looks top notch. Well done.

Out of interest, when it comes to paint application, what are the differences between (re)painting diecast or resin models? Does the paint stick better to one or the other? Which gives the best finish?

Spendid job. Nice addition with the roof rails. Some of the manufacturer model designer should have at least half of your talent and vision. I did not bother buying the resin M5 touring, but I would buy yours in a heart beat.

Thank you so much, mates!

I prefer to repaint resin. The factory paint finish is already top notch, so I just fine-sand the surface (usually grind #800) for better grip.
Since there are no opening or separate parts there's no risk of different colour shades.
On diecast it's advisable to strip the original paint completely, otherwise paint can become too thick and doors/hoods don't shut properly.

But the perfect finish all depends on the quality of varnish.
Since that time I used 2c-clear-coat (including hardener) my paint job quality raised vastly. You only need one layer for perfect brilliance, the flow is smooth and after quick drying (15-20 minutes) the surface is resistant for scratches or paint chip.

Fantastic work as usual! It looks great on the M6 wheels. I think it's a vast improvement over the stock model.

Another top notch paint job raidou!

I'd like to fit some roof rails on my OttO E61 too, it makes it look a bit more complete and the M6 wheels look superb also!

I've wanted a model of this car for a long time. It is sad Otto did not do a great job. But where manufacturers fail, Raidou flourishes. While I may not be a fan of the color, I would much rather have this than what Otto came out with. Great work! Massive improvement.
