This is the first Minichamps bike that I have acquired and I'm happy to say I'm suitably impressed.

It is mainly metal, and a good, solid weight...and the detail is quite nicely executed.

The engine is a mix of plain metal and chrome and it is fully wired. Likewise there is cabling for the brakes... the discs of which are photo-etched (though a bit shiny in my opinion)....

I'd rate it as significantly better than Solido - which you would expect at 3x the cost
- however it just doesn't quite seem to match up to my MTP Kawasakis....

However it is quite robust in relation to the MTPs, which every time i handle i seem to break bits off!!

Here are a few quickies alongside my Organics Kawasaki Zephyr and Maisto Springer Softail Hog .....see what you think.....

Nice score!

I have a couple of Minichamps/PMA and they are very impressive. But for the price I do expect that. Oddly enough, they are all Beemer motorcycles as well, mainly because one of my favorite motorcycle dealers was Bob's BMW in Jessup, Maryland...

If i'm not mistaken, I think BMW actually commissioned PMA to produce a high quality 1:18 series,,,,

It would be nice to see some of yours Spec, if you have any pics.....

I'd have to dig them out, as they are buried deep in my collection.

I think I have a R32 and a R1100S, adn I may have a K1200 but it may also be a second R1100S in a different color. It's been a while since I last looked at them...

I think I may be getting a K1200....that would be very interesting to see Spec.....
And is the R32 the single, or rarer two-seater??

So your fat and bald Eddy? Poor Mair!
Well, I reckon Mair's hit the jackpot.....she's a great fan of both Meatloaf and Vin Diesel, so i'm kind of both rolled into one!!

This is the K1200RS.

Nice model and quite delicately done. However due to the fairing you can't see much (any) engine detail and as the fairing isn't removable i'm sure that M/C haven't gone to town on it....

Although it is a second hand model, the quality control also doesn't seem as good as on he R1200C - it is clear where the brake discs have been cut from the sprue....
Also the side stand isn't movable so you have to use the centre stand - and it doen't display that well that way I M O as the rear wheel is then very high off the ground...

Instrument detail is 'average' and i'm surprised that the reflectors on the front forks are only painted on...
Like I mentioned earlier it's a second-hand model, and unfortunately the chrome plating is coming off the exhaust, so I'll have to see what i can do to repair...

Having said that I personally really like the piece and it is an interesting variation on the R1200C.

So here are some close-ups for you to scrutinise......:wavetowel2:

Just realised that rather disappointingly this slightly older model does not have cabling for the brakes..... NOT what you'd expect at this price point

Likewise on the other Minichamps bike that i've just bought in the deal with the K1200RS - the luxurious 'all bells and whistles' K1200RT.

Nevertheless they do display well I M O as a total 3600cc of Beamer bikes.....what do you think?

Here's a taster for 'number 3'

OK, I finally dug them out, and it turns out I have five Minichamps/PMA Beemers:

  1. A silver K1200RS with blue stripes
  2. A black R1100S with an orange seat
  3. An orangish-red R1100S
  4. A yellow R1100S
  5. A single-seat R32
Sorry, no pics at the moment as I didn't have the time...

Cheers! M2

Wow! They're all different to mine - except that now i've got #2, the black R1100S on order...

I know you're busy at the moment but I'd love to see your others when you do get the time!!

wow! those are 1/18?? thats great! i actually never paid attention or missed the fact that minichamps makes 1/18 scale.... like 1/18 maisto?? right?? cuz some companys make 1/16 and vendors list them as 1/18 because they dont want to create a whole new inventory column called 1/16.. and i've bought a few "1/18" of ebay that turned out to be 1/12... i should have known better as i think im only missing like 3 or 4 1/18 motogp bikes from the last couple of years from ALL model makers... it's a sick obsession with me... lol... but now i know to look out for those "1/18" scales vs true 1/18...

but those are beautiful bikes regardless!!

Thanks for the complements hickhamt they are indeed very nice to look at and to handle - however if it's motogp that you're really after, i think Lazards is the only motogp bike available in the series - but i might be wrong....perhaps Spectre, you know of others??

Interesting point about the scale though, but as far as i can make out they're accurate to 1:18...check out the relative sizes in the pictures next to the Organics and Maisto 1:18s below....

.....Oh and by the way your 'sick obsession' is why you're here with the rest of us addicts....
