For all that use a clear coat, is it really neccessary?

Are the results that much better than going with out?

I have used it with minimal sucess in the past, however, I'm thinking of starting to use it again.

Any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated :feedback

Thanks :cheers

Clear coat protects your paint so Id definatley use it. It gives a really glassy shine to your models and enhances the colour beneath!! thats with metallics! With my models i only use prof 2 pack car paint and then spray and bake it in a professional 1:1 oven. Cant beat two pack... I prepare all my car bodies before i go down to my friends spray booth/oven and primer/sand/colour/clear coat in one day.
:iagree with D8 :cheers

I'd used clear coat for all my mods :happy

Can you spray over decals?
with real 2 pack car paint, i wouldn't try it as the reducer in the clearcoat will shrink if not bubble them up in my opinion..

Domin8 is right 2pac will shrink any decals that you apply yourself.... Clear in a can is fine for spraying over them if you do it in fine tacky coats to start with and then do a full slightly thicker coat....Stay away from Testors Clear Spray!!!! it destroys other manufacturers paint!

No problem if I use with Testors paint, right?

Say you used Tamiya undercoat and colour you wouldnt use the Testors clear to coat it the Tamiya paint will blister like hell and you will have to start again

If you have used Tamiya products try and stay with them for the clear coat or use something like a Anchor, Dulux, or Taubmans clear coat

dont mix the Testors with the other model ones

I'll shoot the clear coat tonight then.

Well I shot the clear coat tonight and it cured in pretty good time with some help from heat gun. :giggle.

I was going to do a simple interior, but I think I'm going to do a detailed interior as well.

I'm really looking forward to completing this mod, so I can start on my Orange Z06 :giggle

I think freaking bird crapped on the hood :confused

I left it outside to finish drying and came back and the hood had some poop on it. Luckily it was already cured or I would have been really upset :lol
