The red interior car was never used for race practice/backup car, only the blue interior one, on two occasions; The 1955 Swedish Grand Prix and 1955 RCA Tourist Trophy. If it has two spare wheels, is it supposed to represent a car at a race meeting?
I seem to remember an occasion when one was used in practice for an event, rather than the usual 300SLR car - used in the race.
Perhaps my memory is playing games with me.....![]()
OK, thanks for that. The red interior car was never used for race practice/backup car, only the blue interior one, on two occasions; The 1955 Swedish Grand Prix and 1955 RCA Tourist Trophy.
CMC is releasing both race ready versions; M-244 and M-245.
I have yet to find a photo of a 1:1 with that feature.
Your post immediately made me smile, Red!It's great that CMC has offered multiple versions of this great car, but I have my heart set on the blue interior WITH external muffler and they are not currently remaking it, so I'll pass. That one detail just makes that car for me and the CMC website says that was Rudi U.'s personal driver, though I have yet to find a photo of a 1:1 with that feature.
That's the angle I want - thank you so much, mxrz!!!Unfortunately they're all mostly from the same angle.
Was news of this re-release recent? I pre-ordered the blue Uhlenhaut last July and it's listed as 'backordered'. I'm wondering if I should continue to wait that one out?And with the announced re-release I get a second chance for the blue Uhlenhaut…
According to the CMC USA website as of today, it's "not yet available":Was news of this re-release recent? I pre-ordered the blue Uhlenhaut last July and it's listed as 'backordered'. I'm wondering if I should continue to wait that one out?![]()
Thanks! I saw that on their website and I'm not really concerned because I trust the people I'm buying from. Looks like the status hasn't changed, which is fine.According to the CMC USA website as of today, it's "not yet available":
If you pre-ordered from a reputable retailer, you're probably OK, though there is no timeframe for its release given.
Ditto! I believe patience is a necessity for this hobby. I have a reputable store that I've been buying from for a long time and I am not unaccustomed to waiting months or even years between making a pre-order and seeing the model arrive. So the thought of cancelling this one wasn't even on my radar. The truth is, I don't care when the car gets here as long as it gets here. And like you, I didn't put a deposit down either so I'm goodI pre-ordered also last summer and I am not worried at all.
Over the years I learned to become a patient collector.
With CMC and my preferred dealer I am still optimistic.
Didn’t need to place any deposit - so I‘m on the safe side anyway…![]()
