Holy Grail time now and here is, to me something rather special(and the biggest model i have so far) In fact it's that BIG the Missus isn't talking to me LOL. It's the Amalgam 1/10, 2019 Bloodhound SSC in Blue/Orange at 134cm long plus the base/case which is around 160cm. My friend who is a self made Millionaire showed me his collection of one off and 1/8 Amalgam models when i went down to the other end of the country to visit him in 2019 and he knew i had my eyes on two of his models, this one and a 1/18 Thrust SSC to be shown at a later date(and in some of the photos below). He gave me the chance to purchase these and let me pay Monthly over time.
My friend saw one of these being made while taking a Amalgam model to be refurbished but he was told he couldn't have one. Anyway to cut a long story short the model maker was persuaded to make a special one for my friend and now after this weekend picking it up, is now in my collection. It's a beast of a model and i just love it. Shown in some photos with a 1/12th, 1/43rd and the 1/18Thrust SSC model for size reference.

This giant is simply amazing - a unique piece of model art.
And an eye-catcher for sure with this stunning colour combo of dark blue and orange!!
I can imagine how happy you are knowing that this one held a top position on wish list for so long…

Thank you Dirk. This has been on my Radar for around four years now and at times i didn't think i was going to get it. The Holiest of Grails and the next one is too. Over the moon to have added them in my collection.

Here is part two of my Holiest of Grails and it's the Awesome Amalgam 1/18, 1997 Thrust SSC ,1of5, #4 the only one signed by Andy Green, just short of 84cm long. Shown in some photos along side of the 1/10th scale Bloodhound previously shown. I do believe Amalgam have started back taking orders for this model again, i thought i had seen it advertised somewhere. Anyway these two models are beyond a dream come true and are at the top of the tree IMO, i love this too. Just need someone to bring out a Thrust 2 in 1/18th to further add to the grail record model group, would be a big seller.

I have to admit that I am not really a fan of jet or rocket powered LSR vehicles. To me it seems LSR cars should be wheel driven.
(Otherwise they are rather planes without wings...)

But the Thrust SSC is an amazing masterpiece of engineering and the story behind is a modern adventure!
Quite fascinating how many challenges Richard Noble, Andy Green and the team had to master before reaching supersonic land speed...

Big congrats again to this stunner!!!
I can imagine how proud you are to have these latest 2 in your collection now...

Thanks Dirk. I am bowled over by these especially as a few Months ago My Friends Wife died and i wasn't sure if i would ever get them, happily i can now say they are in my collection. Really can't wait to see them all together on display. Just need to get the BOS Blitzen Benz when it comes up for sale and i am right up to date with the 1/18 Record models, some achievement in less than a year.

Holy moly Darren these beasts look fantastic! So happy to see you have finally acquired your most holiest of grails and now you can relax and enjoy looking at them. Speaking of which also awesome that they are in display cases (I assume these displays came with the models, probably made by Amalgam in the first place to go with the models), so now you finally can display some models. And what models to have on display!

Thank you, Uzair. The Thrust SSC came with a display cover from Amalgam and the Bigger model Bloodhound SSC had one custom made for this particular model by my friend as i asked him if he could get one fitted before i picked it up. So happy to have added the Holiest of Grail models in my collection, a model that holds the world record and a potentially faster one, although it has to prove itself.

Next up is a model i bought from my friend who i bought the previous two Holy Grail models from (plus some other stunners to show at a later date when i get time). It's the Tamiya 1/12, 1990 Ferrari 64 1/2 (F190) Built Kit, in Red. This is the Nigel Mansell version i believe from what it says on the model and a very nice looking one it is too. This has been sat on display for a long time and the tyres have flat spots so i have put some packing popcorn inside them to fill them out and hopefully over time they may become round again, if not i will have to hunt a new set of tyres for it, and also the back decal on the rear wing is flaking off so will have to look at that at a future date.
