Hi all,

Sorry I've started so many contests lately, due to the time of the year it's unavoidable really.

One contest that I am pleased to be starting is the 'DX Model review of the year 2017' Here you will get to nominate up to THREE Model reviews from 2017.

The rules are very simple, the review(s) have to have been posted by a DX member in 2017, and you just have to provide the name of the member who made the review & a link to the review.

I will start the Voting thread in one weeks time (8th January) UK evening time.

Thanks for looking in & please cast your Nominations.

Mcaf and his review of CMC's Talbot Lago was memorable for me!

Really appreciate the nomination, Guiddy! Coming from a CMC aficionado such as yourself, it means a lot

I know some people write their reviews in their own collection threads, but it would be impossible to sift through these threads to find them from the past year, so I've had a quick nosy through the reviews section and these are what have stood out at me:
  1. Justinpkw's AGU Mitsubishi Evo 9 Ralliart review - Justin always takes great pics for his collection thread anyway, but it was nice to see him apply that to a model review as well. http://www.diecastxc...x-ralliart-agu/
  2. Kinesis 996's review of the Almost Real Bentley GT3 R - I don't think he'd argue his review wasn't the most detailed or had the best pics, but his was the first fairly in depth look at this model that so many collectors were waiting to see, so I think it was quite an important review. http://www.diecastxc...l-bently-gt3-r/
  3. ws6_22's review of the Exoto Jag D-Type - he always gives a short but sweet overview of the characteristics of the model and then literally bombards you with loads and loads of pics of every possible angle in every possible nook and cranny that you really don't see from any other collector! http://www.diecastxchange.com/forum1/topic/207642-jaguar-d-type-short-nose-14-troltdhamilton-24h-of-le-mans-1954/

I love this new category Craig! Really puts the spotlight on the most important area of such a hobby forum - reviews, which until now have been neglected in terms of feedback. ws6_22 stands out for photo-rich reviews, and I also love Jersey Devil (Red's) reviews.

As to nominating actual reviews, the only problem is trying to recall among the dozens of really good reviews we got through the year. The problem is compounded by the fact that some reviews are inside member showcase topics, while other reviews are individual topics. I haven't been cataloging reviews this year, I'll see however if I can scan through and nominate three.

Cheers! I've seen a few that I thought were absolutely fantastic, so I figured I'd introduce this is a new category

Yep, I realise it's a bit of a pain, I plan to continue it next year for 2018 threads, so hopefully everyone will remember some good ones they've seen.
Cool, yep please do

Feel free to get involved folks!!
