Ertl "Munsters" Drag-U-la

The following is my review of the Ertl Munsters Dragula.

Paint -
The paint is very thin in areas , especially around the engravings on the coffin.

3/8

Exterior
Looks like a good representation of a coffin to me. The one thing I don't understand is why they didn't make the hood open. The only opening part is the canopy for the interior. The gap is uneven between the canopy opening & the front of the coffin. Ertl made a decent effort to replicate the front lights, which do look very good. The rear lights are simulated by paint and look nothing like the orginals. The exterior looks close to the 1/1 overall.

3/8

Interior
There isn't much to the interior. The seat does have felt-like seat belts with photoetched buckles. There is a metal rod to keep the canopy up & the detail is decent. The only problem is that the axle is right in front of the seat, which doesn't look correct(I know I wouldn't want to drive it like that). I couldn't find any good pics of the interior.

3/8

Wheels/Brakes
The front wheels spokes aren't thin enough & the rear slicks are wrong. The rear slicks should be tall & skinny, not short & fat (keep your comments to yourself :giggle ) . The original also had a chrome Torque Thrust wheels, instead of what Ertl used. Brakes? We don't need no stinkin' brakes.

1/6

Engine/chassis
The engine looks like a basic Ertl engine, of what you can see of it. I don't see what point there is to have a complete engine when you can't see most of it :confused . I would've rated the engine higher if more of it was able to be seen. Undercarriage detail is minimal at best.

2/8

Competition

No one else makes this, no one else will.

6/6

Desirability

This car is not that rare and can be found on Ebay , online dealers & local stores(found it at TRU).

1/6

Overall

I don't think most people would buy this, except maybe for the muscle car crowd and people who like the TV show. It is definatly different though . I hesitated on buying this when I saw it at TRU, but once I got to my car as I was leaving, the song from Rob Zombie started playing in my head and I had to go buy it(impulse buy).

19/50

I think this is the lowest score yet, its not a car/dragster/? for everyone .

It certainly is a unique model to say the least.
Those rear tires really ruin the look of it :ranting
