I'm not sure why the three cans were needed but I guess one was for water to put into the radiator, other was for fuel for the lamps (this one has both, electrical and gas lamps) and the last one was for sand for braking. But it's just my guess. Experts can enlighten.

I am no authority on this model so I can not tell you if this is 100% accurate as the real one. But whatever it has, is very nicely detailed.
The working features include:
  1. Posable steering
  2. Posable windshield
  3. Posable central light.
  4. Working, spring loaded clutches and other handles
  5. Working drive shaft
  6. Soft rubber bulb for horn
  7. Openable tool box
  8. Separate and removable cans
  9. Soft rubber seats
  10. Working crank shaft handle with separate, removable cap.
