I have struggled for years with my indoor lighting, I just could never get it right or consistant.

But I have been soaking in what everone is doing, experimenting like crazy and finally, I am starting to see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel!

Mind you, I have a long way to go but I finally feel as though I have a road map! :giggle

Many thanks to everyone who has given tips here :cheers

With winter coming I can finally forget about laying down on the cold driveway to get a decent picture :yahoo

Here is my setup and a couple of results

Awesome setup and super results!!! I wish I had something like that! If I did, I have a feeling my two curtain climbers would tear it up!!!

Great photos!

Its just a box sitting on my wifes ironing board :giggle

I have an old (and cheap) Olympus D-520 2MP.

Nothing special at all, same as the lighting :cheers

Nice studio, Jeff. :nicejob :nicejob
Does your camera can operate at manual mode?
If so, what speed and what aperture you normaly use?
I am asking it because of the DOF - depth of field.

Thanks JRO,
No manual settings on my camera except for WB.
Its a old and cheap camera.
I want to master it and my lighting before I even consider upgrading.
Right now, my camera is still a lot better than I am.

No Jeff. I believe that you are much better that your camera now. :happy
I am sure that you will feel more progress if you can invest on a better camera.
I have an old Nikkormat (film) with many Nikon lenses, but since the beggining of 2005 I am also using a digital Sony F-717 for my lil cars pics.
The F-717 is a very good camera, with great lens and a very good range of manual settings possibilities, specially the F8 minimum aperture, which allows a reasonable depth of field if you use it in a tripoid with a low shutter speed.
:cheers

i am thinking about making a studio after seeing this (only when i clean the shed)

Ben, the "box" is actually "foam board" that I picked up at a craft store.
I taped it together to make it have sides and a back and i can remove one piece of tape and fold it flat for storage.
For the different color backgrounds, I just use different color postorboard.

As I said, the whole setup sits on top of my wifes ironing board and is constantly being taken down.

I think I have less than $25 in the whole setup and that includes $5 for the bedsheet.

I wonder if I had gone with a higher thread-count if it would had made a difference?

If i would have taken the sheet from the linen closet, I would have been hanging from the rafter instead of the sheet :giggle

I got mine from that infamous outlaw, Martha Stewart. :lol

:lol That's awesome, Jeff! :happy

Hey bro, if the wifey should need that sheet back ( :giggle ), try this set up I'm using:

Cardboard frame.

White trashbag over frame.

Voila! A homemade diffuser that can be position at any angle without hassle!
