This is the recently released Escort RS1600 1972 RAC Rally winner as driven by the legendary Roger Clark and Tony Mason .

Its basically the same car as the silver RS1600 that I posted a week or so ago , but with a few extras and a livery .
I have to commend Minichamps on the livery , as there are no more of those dreadful decals . This one is all tampo printed and is perfect .

The interior on this one includes a roll cage , properly replicated seats which are different for driver and co driver , aswell as the co drivers instument pod on the dash and a fire extinguisher on the floor .

Body add ons incude boot clamps , soft rubber mudlaps and the correctly positioned fuel cap . It even has the external sump guard mounted under the front of the car .

A very nice replica of the most succesful rally car of all time :cheers

Unfortunately , whilst Minichamps seem to have sorted the decal problem out , they still need to get around to the mounting stubs .

They are visible on the front , rear and indicator lamps :mob

Yeah, i saw. Terrible shame as that has kept me from several of their awesome releases as of late.

Attachment stubbs are like buying sealed models for some - i just refuse to.

You're really tempting me though, with all these recent additions of yours :dizzy

Bad Gary, BAD!

Another nice addition Gary. :cheers

One thing, is the front grill black on the model? because on the 1:1 it is Chrome Silver.

Yes its black on the model , as were all RS1600s .

The grilles are made of aluminium and sprayed black with just a single silver lip around the grille , but obviously the grille on LVX 942J had been polished to get rid of the paint giving it a chrome like finish . Why ? ...I have no idea , but I have seen silver grilles on alot of Safari Rally versions .

Just incase you didnt know , this car took part in the Safari rally the previous year , so maybe thats why the grille was silver :confused
