GMC vandura A-TEAM van (Greenlight)

outwardly it's fine, the painting is not perfect, it has some factory defect, the two doors are opened (they do not have dog legs) and the side door is opened, they are two details that wins the version of hotwheels, the van it does not come with antennas on the roof or the holes, so I made them myself and I put the antennas on them so the set gets better, the rims are very detailed although they did not paint the inside of the spokes in black (which is how it is, in the real model) at least the tires bear the BF goodrich marks, the underside of the van are detailed are not great details but you can see the engine crankcase exhaust pipes and more components

the engine does not open the bonnet so I can not comment anything

the interior is very detailed, the floor is not carpeted, it is plastic and is painted in a bright gray and looks very plastic, inside you can also see the seats, they are like rubber and the same thing happens to them on the floor , in the rear part of the interior you can see two cabinets with electronic components, the dashboard is very detailed but it happens the same as the floor and seats, at least the control panel is well reproduced with its speed markers rpm etc, the steering wheel is made of plastic and it has the emblem of gmc

Agreed, I have the same HWE, other than the side door opening I won't be trading sideways for this one. Overall it does look good though, Greenlight really fell down on the interior though, those seats are awful and your right, there should be carpet. I have a pile of parts that is a real full sized Chevy van, same as the GMC and I can see where they missed in detail. Again an overall good looking model from the outside, thank you for sharing all those great detailed photos.

Thanks for the review and in depth pictures

I can't believe the price the Hot Wheels Elite's are up for now, it's crazy! Even the regular one (foundation I think?) seems to be selling at a premium too.

This GreenLight one is a bit basic in places, but price wise it seems to be fair with the detail of the model - it is annoying to us how it works out to be about £50 in the US, but some sellers here want twice that

I have the hotwheels elite! I like that the side door opens on this but the hotwheels version is so much better at the fine detailing.
Thanks for the in-depth review !
I don't really understand why HWE cut the corners by not making the side door openable, and the big doglegs for the passenger doors. I think the HWE Ecto-1 was on a completely different level, although their release prices were similar, right?

Thanks for the great pictures. Me and Affi were discussing this one, as i bought a HWE when it came available.

The Greenlight is a great model, with the opening/sliding door a +++ feature, but some things bug me:
-roof spoiler is too far up front of the red strip, in stead of in the middle
-the sun visor looks too big
-the fenders look more flat, compared to the HWE's more rounded ones.

Can't determine wether i prefer the 1 exhaust on the HWE, or the double-4 ones on the GL

The rims look much better. I ordered one of these to modify , is the only full length 1/18 GM van available at a good price. I also just noticed they left out the upper dash. Looking forward to see it with flocking,

Hi guys,

I have now both the HWE and the Greenlight A team van. I added the Greenlight one because of the working sliding door.

What do you think is an easier mod:

1. Create a sliding door from the HWE. So maybe to cut the door panel open, add a guiding rail.

2. Create openable rear doors from the Greenlight. So maybe to cut the door panels open, add hinges.

Thanks!

^ I'd ask in the modification / bodywork forum so more members see. I only looked in here as there was a reply to an older thread.
