My first post.

I was wondering if anyone here has taken this on:

I was told this is based on the Autoart R35 GTR, but I have questions regarding the front bumper.

I have never done something like this before. I see that there is a replacement front bumper in the kit. As far as I know, the Autoart R35 front bumper is not a separate piece.

How does one go about removing it?

I've not done this YET, but I am intending to , in the meantime I'm going to build the hobbydesign wald transkit which is very similar.

You'll have to cut off the front bumper, using a dremel or hobby saw. There's no way around that unfortunately! Though with the wald kit I need to cut off the side skirts too..

Yes, confirmed by hobbyeasy, these kits are based on autoart models (both Wald and RB kits)...

Anyway, all 1/18 GT-R's (burago, norev, AUTOart, Kyosho and Jada) don't have a separate bumper. You'll have to cut it out...

To be honest the end result is worth it, assuming one has the skill to go thru with it. The LB R35 has become an icon of the tuning world in the same way the Rocketbunny FRS did, and in my opinion worth having in the collection.

I dont really have the skills to do a kit like this so I'll be handing it off to someone who does and just be happy with the end result. Congrats on all of you who will be undergoing this and hope to see a step by step!

i read somewhere else that there is going to be a rocket bunny kit for the r35 coming up. it is pretty much the same kind of conversion as this liberty walk upgrade, meaning the front bumper has to go, but it does include a new vented hood.

i have another newbie question: is there a website for hobby design? the url listed on their packaging to a chinese web address does not work for me.

I wouldn't worry about cutting up the r35, it's a very strong shell. I've cut the front bumper and both side skirts of mine and it is just as strong as before. Plus, you could easily avoid having to a do a full repaint if you are careful when cutting- I was going to fit this kit to my black r35 and color match the parts but my orange one was damaged anyway

Guess I need to get some more r35's- lb performance and rocket bunny, I hope they make a bensopra kit too

To answer your question, yes you will unfortunately have to cut off the bumper.

Now, my questions are this: Do you have to use an Auto Art GTR to do this? And secondly, where do I buy this kit? Because I've searched everywhere and I can't find it! Thanks in advance!

another source for the kit, but it is not the hobby design version:

it uses similar parts, but the fenders are different. the common complaint about the HD version is that the fenders are too narrow.

also, it comes with hardware to mount the wheels and they can still turn. includes photoetched brake discs as well. i'm not sure the HD version has these (someone please confirm).

i think TK diecast is here under "tk diecast" (was originally known as "hurryfast").
