Sideshow Collectibles sent me its latest "coming soon" notice about a 1/6th scale Delorean modeled on Doc Brown's experimental car in the BTTF movie series and even if this isn't your cup of tea as a collectible, you might appreciate their "unboxing" video:

Wow -- a great, entertaining video of an incredible piece! 😲 Thanks for sending it along. Looks like it's definitely worth the asking price, but I think I'll settle for the AUTOart 1:18 scale DeLorean that I already have; that one is more in my price range!

It's well out of mine for this sort of item, but still cheaper than the build-it-yourself 1/8th scale Eaglemoss version!

That looks like so much fun! A really cool piece, esp in flight mode. It sort of straddles the line between diecast and gimmick, but it’s such a laugh that I don’t think it matters.

You are so right, Scuddy. I looked at the Eaglemoss version - which has more light-up features than this one - just out of curiosity, as it was still too far out of my budget considering the subject matter, but if memory serves, it doesn't have the in-flight wheels capability (or wasn't convertible from one to the other like the Hot Toys one is) so that makes this version even more appealing.
