Got a yellow GTR a week or so ago. I really don't like yellow as a color for any car.
And after seeing the results of mmc's repaint, I thought I'd give it a shot.

Before shot of the weak interior, engine bay and front ride height.

Here's where I'm at, after a couple days in the brake fluid bath.

I lowered the front end. Had to dig out the old Dremmel to make room in the wells, cutting down the door arms, and frame under the windshield. Didn't have any properly sized plastic tube, so I used some hollow square rod to bring the wheels up about an 1/8th of an inch. Looks lazy with the body pulled apart, but is hidden when assembled.

I spent a few minutes working on the engine detail. Simple black wash and painted the plugs/wires black.

The model came with a raw interior molded in a light beige, which carried over into the engine bay. It looked terrible, IMO. So that got a spray in satin black.
Seats are matte black with aluminum buckles on the harnesses.

Still not 100% on the color. Need to make a stop at Canadian Tire to check out the automotive rattle cans. I'm thinking of a darker brown with an orange pearl.
Also need a wire brush to get rid of the pain-in-the-a$$ remnants of yellow in all the corners.

I must say I love yellow as a colour for most Lambos, but brown/ orange pearl sounds really interesting...

Engine and stance are 100% though! Nice work so far Rinceman,
and I look forward to seeing the finished project!

There must be two versions of the yellow one, because mine came with a black interior with red seat belts and silver buckles. Also, the front stance is lower on mine and I haven't touched it.

Good progress, Rinceman!

I wonder why in the world doesn't Hot Wheels release any other Elites (other than Ferraris...). There is still a market for the Diablos, especially w/AUTOart that can't be bothered re releasing the SVs, GTRs, VTs, etc. Same for the Quattroporte.

Ahh, maybe the guy I bought mine from switched out the interior and didn't mention it. Mine has a passenger seat, and no cage. Weird.
I bet that is what happened as I see you have black door panels. It should have a full roll cage and no pass seat. In it's place there is a red reservour tank.

Well, its been almost exactly a year since I last touched this model. The wifey is back in Europe finishing up her school so I get some time to play with my toys.

I had laid down a silver metallic on this last year, and was pretty disappointed with the results. So it sat like this for some time.

It looks like primer, but I promise you that's a gloss metallic coat. Every panel looked different.

So tonight, after sanding down everything with 2000 grit, and waiting for the softcore pron shoot on my roof to wrap up, I got some orange laid down on it. (This was my first big money making car in Forza4)
I didn't have very high hopes for this paint. It has a plastic lawn chair on the label, but all in all, it came out pretty solid.

Here's how it looks at the moment,

Sorry about the phone pics.

Now just have to wait a couple days to put on some clear, and then some careful wet sanding. Hopefully this is the last time I have to paint this thing.

(I know the Autoart version comes in orange. I don't care.)

That looks great and I can't wait to see the end result. I'm thinking about repainting my 380RS. The colors AUTOart offered it in were BORING! Keep us posted and thanks for the shots. The progress is very interesting to watch

I feel your pain about the multiple coats of paint. But it's coming along great! You're going to wet sand the clear, not the color coat? I always wondered about sanding the clear - but have avoided using it as I get a good finish with sanding and polishing the color...at that point I just don't want to spray clear and have to sand for the tenth time!

You're stealing my idea haha. I also want to repaint my Diablo GTR but I have the version like forummember Acisne has. Could you show me step by step how to lower the car? My topic will come soon, after that I finished some other projects like the Aventador...

My Diablo will have the same colour as yours, but with a Affolter-spoiler and LP640-rims from the Norev LP640.
