I'm looking to do some modifications to a Maisto 1/18 1965 Corvette, but it isn't clear how this model comes apart.

There are 2 screws under the rear mufflers that loosen the chassis somewhat, but that doesn't take care of the front of the car.

Even with those screws removed the chassis seems pretty tight to the body of the car.

Any ideas on how to disassemble this model - or at least separate the chassis from the body?

Thanks!

Got some pictures?

You might check the front wheel wells, for screws that will be almost directly above the front tires.

Here's a picture of the bottom. I removed the screws in the red circles, which connects the rear of the chassis to the body. I also removed the triangle screws, but these just hold the front suspension to the chassis.

Oops -- forgot to click "attach".

I'm wondering if it the chassis just pries off after the screws are removed.

Can't open the picture. You probably need to link to a photo hosting site, such as Flickr.

A couple of things to consider are opening the doors if they are dogleg hinges, as sometimes the hinges will interfere.

Also, the steering column may be clipped into the dashboard, which will occasionally cause an issue.

I experimented, and you can gently pry off the exhaust pieces from the rear to get to the screws near the exhaust. And you can also gently pry off the piece just aft of the oil pan to reveal a center screw. From there, it comes apart reasonably easily after you gently unsnap the steering wheel from the dashboard.

As always, tackle this at your own risk!
