Hi all. I have an Ertl Cobra that I wan to get the wheels off, but I don't want to damamge them. I normally don't have any probs getting wheels off cars but these just don't want to come off. They have a knock off (?) hub on them, but I'm not sure if that needs to come off to get the wheel off.

thanks

First off, cool banner, My Friend!

Second, what are you doing molesting that Cobra I sent you?

Third, the wheels look to be a typical Ertl "fused" pin design, where there is an inner and out wheel, with pins on the outer, pushed into holes in the inner. I have had success with slicing the mushroomed end off the pins, and then there is a retaining on the inside.

Finally, there is a guy on the Scale18 Board, Frank Lemire, who is the Cobra expert, you should post this same question over there.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Jim. Yeah, you caught me out! I thought that might be how I would need to get them off but its not easy to get in there. I want to see what it would look like with different wheels on.......
There is a Cobra replica in Christchurch and it has a Lexus 4 ltr V8 in and it sounds REALLY naughty! I followed it through town the other day and it honestly sounds like a racing car VERY nice. It has a kind of bronze colour body with black wheels. I was thinking of doing something similar to the Ertl as I don't have an engine for it. I would also like to see what the wheels would look like on my E-type Jaguar custom.......

Anyway, I will try Frank too.

thanks

Peter
