Hi guys, I'm new here.

I just purchased a black Z06 vette (cheap Maisto) - with black seats. I would like to make the seats and door panels a black/red combo. This will be a first paint mod for me, but I'm not too afraid because I have a spare Z06 w/ broken wheels (I tried taking off the wheel, I must've pulled really hard :confused ) that I can practice on.

What would be a good paint to use on plastic? And please give me tips on painting interiors.

Thanks in advanced!

Josh

Welcome aboard and glad to have you

Hope you enjoy the forums. :cheers

I have made this mod a few times, its just a matter of applying the paint smoothly within the seats.

I recommend using a camels hair brush for this as it will allow for cleaner lines. You shouldn't have a hard time doing so, as the seats have grooves and you can just paint inside the grooves.

best of luck with your project. :cheers

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I have been reading on this forum for about a month now. This forum has been very informative. :cheers I almost submitted a bid to an overpriced McLaren on ebay several weeks ago, thanks to this forum I was able to avoid it.

I started my collection w/ a #4 Corvette C5R last November of this year. I now have the ff:

2002 #4 C5R - AutoArt
2002 #63 C5R- AutoArt
2 Black Z06 - Maisto
Red Z06 - Maisto
Black SL500 - Motor Max
White 360 Modena - Hot Wheels
More to come soon.........I hope.

I will be taking pics as soon as my woman returns from vacation, she used the digital camera.

Mine is nothing compared to the huge and very nice collections you guys have.

I think I'm already addicted.

sexylex and hope you enjoy this forum,
I'm sure a black/red combo will look good on the seats and door panels, but door panels do you mean the outside bit or the inside? Post pics when you get the chance :happy

Sexylex,

I don't think we discriminate based on the size of a collection, its the enthusiasm of the hobby thats most important. And as long as you like models you'll like this place.

I've done a lot of mods involving painting the interiors. While I haven't done the C5 Corvette interiors, I have painted many C4 interiors in the stock 2-color scheme. I use regular old masking tape to mask off the colors, and any average spray can paint will do fine. Depending on the color I need, I use Testors or Tamiya paints, primering first of course. As long as you don't put it on too thick, you'll keep any texturing in the original parts.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, I really appreciate it.

I've purchased the paint but haven't started the paint job due to the holidays. I hope to find some time in the coming weeks.

As for my s/n (SexyLex), it's also my s/n on IS300.net (For Lexus IS300 enthusisasts)
