I was on the Autoart website checking on their updates when I was suprised to find the yet unreleased Bentley speed 8 in the Motorsport section. I was under the impression it was to be made with opening features unlike the already released versions. Has AUTOart given up on making cool diecast? I hate to throw stones in my 1:18 glass house but it seems they're trying to up their prices by flogging these half rate diecast and the up-ing the price on their regular models.
The sad thing is, it seems that the motorsport division is doing well enough that they've decided to expand it.
It's almost like Exoto has taken over management of Auotart! :fight (I'm gonna regret saying that, aint I?) :scared

My :mine anyway.

I just checked the site and can't find where it is mentioned as a 'Motorsport' release. When you search for Bentley it brings up three models but has no info regarding the specification of the car. The photo is of the real car also.

They have not released any information that states that this car is now being produced with a sealed body shell. If, in the unlikely event, it does come through I'll be sure to post it here. At the moment the car will still be produced with full openings.

Just checked the AUTOart website on the last page there is the 2002 Bentley and just beside the yellow sign that says "Whith sealed body shell" .

http://www.autoartmodels.com/pages/allpage/motorsport.htm

Same thing with the Citroen Xara WRC (I'm gonna keep my solidos) .
If it had the yellow sign next to every car I'd be convinced but there is only one sign on the page (nothing next to the models we know are sealed) so don't panic. We have had no official news through from AUTOart and they are not listed in the 'Motorsport' section in the product list. As I said, if I hear anything I'll post it here but at the moment both the 2002 Bentley and the Citroen rally cars will have full openings.

Remember, the sealed versions are 2003 and the one with openings is from the 2002 race. 2003 versions will not be produced with full openings.

I guess I'm just not as optimistic as you RCP. I keep a list of the AUTOart I want to collect as well as a page listing on the AUTOart site so when I want to have a look at my "soon to be added" diecast I can find it quickly. The Bentley used to be with all the other racing division cars until this last update when it showed up under the Motorsport heading.
Don't get me wrong - I'd be darn happy to be wrong about this - but it doesn't look good.

I have just heard back from AUTOart and they have confirmed that the Citroen and 2002 Bentley have been moved over to the Motorsport division and will be produced with sealed bodies so you guys were right.

I wasn't sure so went straight to the top to check.

whats the go with the sealed body? is it cheaper? maybe AUTOart is running out of funds to make the opening parts i think i might have to start collecting BBurago (AS IF) if the models i want have sealed doors, boots/trunks and bonnets/hoods just hope none of the australian cars will ever have sealed parts other wise i might have to buy a dremmil and make the doors open :scared :eek:hmy
