Some days ago I was with my wife shopping here in my small town, looking for some pants for yours truely. As always, I ended up in the toy section of the store looking for diecast. I don't know why, but I always drift into the toy section of big stores. I live in a very small town, so diecast here is pratically nonexistant (people hardly know what it is; a few may recognize the name Bburago). Lo and and behold, what do I see? A silver AUTOart Callaway!

The box was thick with dust, and a little banged up, but the car was prestine. Despite my huge interest in vintage Vettes, the models after 1980 really don't do nothing for me, so I left the box as I found it. It was priced at $35,00.

Now that I passed on it the darn car is haunting me, and the voices in my head are kicking my butt for not taking it on the spot (the same happened when I passed on the Hot Wheels FW16 some months ago). Here in Brazil the Callaway is hard to find, since AUTOart is not producing them anymore. Do you guys think it's worth it?

A C12 for $35 is great! I didn't know AUTOart isn't making them anymore. You should get it, it seems to be a great model. I'm probably going to get one soon knowing now that the model is out of production

Being one of their earliest models, it's not one of AUTOart best efforts as I had it before. I bough one at a now long-gone, FAO Scwarz for a whooping 85 USD (!!!), and returned it 2 week later.

On a positive note, it has a removable top (I thought it was neat) and pretty sure it had carpeted interior.

Hope this helps... :cheers

Does anyone have pics of the interior and engine? It would be nice if it's carpeted like Gian is saying. And what about door hinges? Are they discreet or Great Dane-style dog legs? I have a BIG issue with dog leg hinges (and sealed trunks, for that matter).

SF, the voices in my head are saying that they should kick the crap out of the voices in your head. :lol

Luciano,

$35 isn't too bad depending on the market your in. I recently paid $40 including s/h on two Callaway C12 off of eBAY. They seem to be going for bottom dollar on eBAY.

Here are some links to my latest additions.

Luciano, I will tell you that anytime I bought a car that I wasn't really interested in but was a "great deal", I always end up selling the car.
After I have it for a while, I ask myself why in the hell did I buy it.
Just my 2 cents

The price sounds good because I would not pay shipping and the cheapest available of AUTOart's models that I can find in a shop (real store or online) costs that much. Every day since last week I do a search on MercadoLivre to see if one shows up but until now I never found one, and all the shops have them as out of stock (and believe me when I say I combed ALL that have a website).

If it was the Muko Car I would have bought it (though I think the silver one is nicer as a car). I have this soft spot for anything that transfers part of the profit to some children's health institution (me and Lari never missed a Big Mac Day at McDonalds - don't know if you guys have anything similiar).

Jeff, I totally understand what you're saying. My collection is small and I don't pick up bad cars just for the price (like some bad models by YM or Bburago or even Maisto). So if I end up buying it, it has to be more then cheap. For instance, if it was the Callaway from Maisto I wouldn't even think of it.

I'm probably going to be getting one of these for my birthday, a yellow one off eBay. Man those are cheap! You can get one including shipping for not much over $30!

I would get it at that price. I picked one up when the local FAO Scwarz was having their closing sale for around $30 and I am happy with it.
