You've all simultaneously made me feel welcome and intimidated - the quality of the photos members post here is amazing! I am very much a neophyte, both in collecting diecast and especially in photography, so please bear with me (as I was resizing my sample pics, I saw all kinds of flaws that I intend to remedy when I next have four days to blow unpacking, posing and reposing).

I am first and foremost a racing fan and my little collection and my planned acquisitions reflect that (I just ordered the GMP Ferrari 330P4 - no, not the 1/8th version!). Most of these cars are from races I read about or, very occasionally, saw on film or TV - from a more romantic and sadly more dangerous era. All but two are 1/18th scale and many are unassembled and/or unpacked as I have no room to display them. Here we go!

UPDATE 1/31/16: Not much has changed in the seven years since I created this post. I didn't get back to New Jersey until Dec. 2012 and even then was not given the time to get a place that would allow me to display my slowly growing collection. They are still all stored, but I've expanded my selections a bit with some ebbs-and-flows based upon the vagaries of my profession:

Two of my three outstanding orders came in over the last week.

First, the Exoto 1/18th Ford GT40 Mk. II of Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby that led a 1-2-3-5 Ford sweep of the 1966 Daytona 24-Hour (note that this version of the Mk. II doesn't have the iconic twin rear deck airscoops that first appeared at the next race, the Sebring 12-Hour):

Then today arrived my Exoto 1/18th IMSA Jaguar XJR-9D of Martin Brundle, Raul Boesel and John Nielsen that won the 1988 Daytona 24-Hour (I haven't installed the rear spoiler):
