A couple of days ago I ordered two models which I actually never thought I would ever own.

They are the black AEG Sauber C9 and the Lemans winning C9 set, both from Exoto.

They were offered at good prices in my opinion, Aus$190.00 for AEG, Aus$440.00 for the winning set. That's about US$135.00 for AEG and US$315 for the twin set including tax and free shipping. For that price I thought I might as well grab them.

I would never even consider them at full price, especially the winning set (with that basically pointless rolling chassis).

Can't wait to pick them up next week. :happy

Congrats Richard!

I've been looking at the winner and the Michelin car for a while, but like you said, the price is the killer for these.

Still, it's great to see someone get them for a good price :happy

Congrats again,

Mark

ps. Are you going to have a Crown to celebrate :lol

Yep, sorry. I saw Hobart in your location and got confused. As I said, having a slow day.

They had very few modern cars there. Bascially a McLaren done up on Kimi livery and the C9 were the two newest cars there. I was hoping to see the CLK GTR/LM or even a CLK DTM but they weren't there.

They had a large model showing 'Mercedes World' which will hold their new museum. the plaques said they have over 150 cars in storage that wont fit in the current museum. That will be a sight to see when it's completed in a few years time.

I was just looking through my pictures from the trip and I noticed I had a pic of an AEG Sauber C9 from Exoto. the thing that grabbed me was that it's not the AEG I'm getting. Note the different race number, driver names, windscreen banner, wheels and door mirror colours. I wonder if this is an incorrect development prototype or a seperate model which will be released in the future?.

I also got a pic of some Exoto Chaparral models which looked to me as basically production ready but haven't seen them released yet. Remember, this pic was taken in February 2004! The sucker car looked nothing short of spectacular. I'm sure as soon as Exoto release it they will be snapped up.

Perhaps the AEG cars are from different years? Or maybe they raced in different championships?

The new Mercedes museum sounds cool though, perhaps a trip to Das Bundesrepublic is in order in a few years time.

:cheers

Congrat's Richard on the 2 1/2 "1/2 for the rolling chassis :wink " C9's, I know the AEG car has been on your wishlist for awhile now, so whats the next target? the Michelin one is superb, but finding them at good prices as you did is rare.

:cheers

I'm done with Saubers now. The Michelin, Kouros, and other two silver cars were also available at those prices but I couldn't justify getting those as well.

I generally try to focus my collection on championship or specific race winners (LeMans, Bathurst etc). If I didn't do this I'd be broke.

Hopefuly I'll be able to grab the MK IV Ford when it is released. I think I've only got 5 or 6 LeMans winners at the moment. I'll build the collection up gradually. That's the fun of collecting.
