The fact they are doing the 1991 WRC Toyota Celicas in Diecast 1/18 is refreshing. But I’d be super pleased if they did Juha Kankkunen’s 1993 Toyota Celica (working pop-up headlights would be a bonus) and Didier Auriol’s 1995 Rally Corsica winning Toyota Celica in Diecast 1/18 too. For Kyosho to also do, in fully-opening die cast 1/18, the Ferrari 488 Pista and Ferrari 355 GTS w/opening headlights would be a God-send from Heaven
I would like to see those rally cars too, but the 1993 version is a ST185 (the most successful of the rally Celicas) and the 1995 is the ST205.
That would require two brand new toolings, since I don't think either was produced back in the day.
I'm still hoping for the 1980 Fiat 131 rally Monte Carlo winner to return.

So what's the big deal about that? I would think every new model that has yet to be made would probably need new toolings anyway. So if they have to, assuming they agree to make such models, bring it on.
I doubt they have the money to produce so many new models.
As I mentioned, I would also like to see them get manufactured.
I have an unpleasant feeling there would be the temptation to re-box Otto sealed resins under their Samurai label.
I already have the Otto versions, and have no desire to get the same (at higher prices) under a different branding.

Where the Essex Wire car is concerned, it was continuously developed throughout it's race career.
I have an old article in a long gone American race replica magazine which details some of these changes.
The article was prompted by the release of the excellent 1/24th scale Monogram kit of the car.
The car may even had more or less camber depending on the circuit - more on twisty, less on fast open.

Maybe clear to you, but not clear to me from that angle. And nowhere near as bad as on these Kyosho models.

Anyway, let's just agree to disagree. That is my opinion of these models and the reasons why I will save my money for something else, perhaps even another older release Kyosho Cobra which doesn't look perfect either, but at least closer to the 1:1 than the ones on that catalogue.

I was only asked by @pdc to elaborate on why I disliked these Kyosho Cobras, and that's what I did, so my work here is done. (y)
The consensus among some is that the ancient Shelby model is very accurate.
And easily available at knock down prices....

Now, the question I ask myself: has Kyosho solved its huge paint-rash problems? We can't count on them to tell us, since they'll never admit to the previous recurring problem.

We can hope so.
After all, the tooling frames will be the same, it's the metal and the correct mix of materials poured into those moulds that will determine the quality.
And of course updated paint standards to match what the likes of Minichamps use (since there seems to be a link there).

Be more attentive, Kyosho announces the 4WD version of the Lancia Delta, that is to say the first version of the Integral of 1987, in addition to the version Evoluzione 2 of 1992 already released.;)
True indeed, it's been way too long since such a version has been offered in opening metal.
I wonder if a 1988/9 version with the wider arches will follow.....

The latest re-released Delta and Stratos I got had paint rash within 6 months.
I bought two versions of the recent release rally Delta and no issues after around a year.
Several years ago I bought an original release Lancia 037, and recently bought another - from the new batch, no issues.
I also bought a yellow Fiat 131 Abarth street (actually a plain rally version) and an orange BMW2002 and no issues.
Perhaps I'm tempting fate......

I've always had the "sensation" that new models need some "fresh air".

Which is why I drill holes in the display cases mine are stored in.

It's a very angular car and Kyosho's mould is showing its age.

The whole body shell will need to be new, there are just so many changes that the original Evo2 could not be used.
Perhaps the doors, the glass components and parts of the interior.
If AUTOart were to produce one of their 'new age' resins of the earlier cars, I would stick with the Kyosho.

it genuinely looks like a model designed and made in the 90s. You'd think for $265 you'd at least get some of the refinement we saw on Autoart's Delta S4 and the Quattro
I have the feeling it was designed in the past but never released.
I have an Otto resin version, but am tempted to get the MC version, although only when heavily discounted.

Now if only Kyosho would also do the Rally Celicas from the 1993 and 1995 seasons in fully opening Diecast that would be super sweet
Perhaps if those of us interested in the ST165 dig (very) deep into our pockets and buy one or other version.
They then might be encouraged to follow your suggestion.
I still think any 'new' item is a no show from the early days - perhaps there were even more paint and material issues on those which saw them cancelled.

Carmodel are showing the BMW 2002 turbo as being in stock.
It is of course the old tooling resurrected from the vaults and will be to the standards of the era.
But my recent 2002Tii is more than good enough to my eyes, although at greater cost than first time around.
I will still get one with the right discount when it happens....
