Hi,

I am Mike, live in The Netherlands and am new to this forum.

I collect Le Mans and endurance racing cars in the scale 1/43. I have over 380 modelcars, and about 70% of them can be seen on my website. Please have a look at Le Mans models.

The site is in dutch , except for the startingpage which is also in English, but i think you will understand most of it anyway :coolpics .

Let me extend you my warmest welcome Mike!! I do hope you enjoy this forum very much. I clicked on a couple pages of your website and I love the cars in your collection!!!

Did you make this diorama or did you buy it? It looks amazingly beautiful!! If I had the skill to make something like this for my 1:18 racers, I would. But I don't and nor do I have the space to display something that big either. But 1:43 is a different matter altogether. :giggle

I am presently searching for a Nissan R390 from the 2003 Le Mans. The past two auctions on eBay have been extremely expensive!! :cry

Anyway, everyone is very friendly here, as you will soon see yourself.

I saw your drivers links on your website and notice Peter Kox had a little Dutch flag flying beside it. So, here's a little something to welcome you also. I got the autograph from Peter this August while he was racing with the Krohn Barbour ALMS team with the Murcielago R-GTs

:welcome aboard Mike! :cheers
I'm sure you will love it here.
Unhappily I will not go to your site, because trying to get Le Mans cars in 1:18 is enough strain on my bank account. :giggle But seriously, if you want to collect Le Mans, 1:43 is the way to go. In 1:18 we only have a fraction of what is available in 1:43.

Welcome Mike!!!
It's great to have a new member join us here at DX!
Congratulations on your amazing collection - they really are breathtaking! :tongue
I am also stunned at the amazing diorama you have. Did you build it yourself? If so, I would love any tips, advice or run-throughs you can offer. THAT is what I wanted to achieve when I started my own rather embarrassing attempts...

Once again, welcome to DX and we all look forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences in what is, I believe, the best forum going around.

Thanks for all you positive reactions.

To answer a few of your questions:

- The models are all in scale 1/43

- I bougt the diorama at an auctionsite in The Netherlands last month and started to photograph all my models on it. I don't have any tips to build one .... sorry :scared

- The site is in dutch, but if you click on the English lag at the bottom of the 1st page you will get some more information in english.

That Red Bull Ferrari is beautiful beyond belief! Thank you Mike for posting that car!

How do you compare the general quality of AB's racing models compared to other 1:43 manufacturers (like Spark)?

:feedback and thanks in advance.

I think AB is very good. I compare it with Red Line and think they are equal.
In some small details the AB is great, look at the little clips that hold the windshield.
And the most important to me: they look great together in my collection :tongue

Yes, they are about in the same pricerange.

AB is maybe a bit more expensive, but i had a lucky day on ebay so there was not much difference.
Both are a lot cheaper than BBR and i think they therefore offer more value for money :cool
