Last week I got a new catalog from Exoto and in it I saw a 1:18 vehicle called a "Serius". Can anyone tell me more about this exotic?

It was announced in 2001 and was supposed to be capable of producing 1300 BHP on full boost with its Twin turbo engine . Good for 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 mph .
It was rumoured that it would have cost $500,000 to buy if it had ever gone into production .
This concept car took 3 years to complete. Lotec says they can sell a road going version of this car which would take 1 year to complete. However, no road going versions have been created or sold.

Specifically, does anyone know more about the 1:18 version being released? Who is making it and is it a good peice? Exoticar, which is normally on the higher end of retail has it listed for $ 34.95 (USD).....

That makes me wonder about the quality. Of course, if it's the only one available in 1:18th, then I guess the question is moot. If you want one, it's the only game in town.....

TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE 1:18TH.......

I believe the model is being made by Protar .
Personally I cant see it being anywhere near AUTOart or even Minichamps quality for that price , but I guess time will tell .

From the limited information available on the car after doing a google search , it seems the car definately never hit the streets. If that is an untouched pic , then it has to be the concept version.
There is always the possibility that those pics are PS.

From the pics, the car is forming proper shadows corresponding to other cars on the road. And that chap in the VW I guess is looking back at the supercar. But then again anything is possible with PS.

Guys I managed to dig some info out on this car from EVO #71:

The specs on the Lotec Sirius
Engine: V12, 5987cc, 48v, bi-turbo
Max Power: 850bhp @ 6000 rpm
0-62mph: 3.8 sec (claimed)
Top Speed: 242 mph (claimed)
Price: 379,335 GBP
On Sale: Now, built to order

They mention that the powerplant is the same as the 48 valve 6-litre mercedes V12 that the Pagani Zonda uses. Howver, they also said that Lotec will be ditching this engine in favour of the current SL65 motor because of the ease of servicing worldwide.

Hey Drums, the car is actually made by a company called Maxicar. I believe this is their 1st 1:18 scale car. They car known for smaller scale cars. I have a link for a few more pics of the Lotec Sirius diecast. . From these pics, the model looks excellent for the price. I can't wait to get it from Exoticar, as I already placed an order for it :danbana :danbana :danbana . I heard it may be a little hard to get these, since the company is realitively unheard of. Hope these pictures are of some help. :cheers
