Unfortunately, maisto quality is getting worse
Maisto used to produce much better models

QC is about how well components are stuck on to models, not about how those components are.
The SL is an Exception. The Current MAisto Range has been improving. Look at the E Class.
What are you talking about? The whole E-Klasse's shape is off just like their M5.
Agreed.

The E-Class is definitely not a good model.
I Disagree. As a Budget model, It is a Fantastic car. Lets not get into the whole process of bashing Maisto. Most of us started collecting plainly because there was a "Maisto" If they didnt exist, most of us woudnt be in this hobby today.
Cyrus, don't confuse good old Maisto models like the Porsche 550, Audi R8 racer, Porsche 911 speedster, or the MB CLK-GTR with the crap they put out nowadays...

WORD!
Old Maistos are a lot better than newer ones for the most part. Plain and simple. Take a look at their first release SL and tell me it's not better than the one just released. The E's shape is all wrong. Don't say I'm bashing Maisto when I'm pointing out why a model is bad. I am not "bashing" Maisto because it's cheap. I'm "bashing" them because it is a bad model. Some of their models have really good shapes such as the Superlegerra Gallardo and Cayman S. But recently their new releases have not been up to their old standards in terms of shape and materials used.
You guys do have a point. I just spent 1o mins staring at the Maisto XJ220 and then the SL. And I feel like Ive wasted £25. Im now going to get the Absolute Hot Version.
Is Maisto a toy or diecast?

Because seeing age on the box 4+ so i guess they are rounded the corner and making it easy for kids to play.

Old memories of Maito...1. mercedes CLS,Z4,JEEPS

They'll get just what they deserve. In one thread a member got a 550A for $20 and it's a gem. Did you not look at the pictures Diecast posted above?
That looks like a poorly-done MotorMax 1/24. Maisto should be humiliated for releasing that abomination. The E-Class is almost as poorly done...

Oh, but WAIT! They have a new website.

....In which they have just scanned the brochure. :D I think they are getting a little lazy
that sl is horrific. even the pre facelift models i have from 6-7 years ago are much better.
I was tempted to buy one, but it looks like a modified 2001 SL- Classe from them; same mould with slight changes, It looks like they only stuck a new interior and a front clip which is badly done, but quite accurate. So the oolder version is miles away better from it. In the other hand, The E-class Merc from them is not a bad model; Its better to get it in black to hide some inperfections like the sealed rear doors. The interior is accurate but the seats are low but good enough to be honest.

Maisto is a Toy.. But... The price is so high... Here in Slovenia it cost's 40€ .. Some more :/
Some of their models do look ok & I'd happily display tham, but the majority are awful!

Sadly the good old day are long gone!

That model looks awful, BUT it looks exactly how I expect a toy to look like. and that is what they are. I just don't understand it. Bburagos and maistos were never meant to be "collector models". They are toys that sell at Sam's club for $12, which is the price of a glass of wine or a good beer.
A lot of people started with bburago and Maisto, just because there was no one else, not because they were so good. Bburagos and Maistos are sold at gas stations across Europe and in some places in US, so when you stop to take a leak you get one for your kid so it shuts up for the 1 hour drive home. I have some Maistos in my collection too and some of them are really good for their price, but I just take them for what they are- well made toys.
I had a 1/18 Maisto 2003 Mercedes Benz SL500, and that was a SUPERB model. You could confidently put it next to a higher end model with no problems. It even had working suspensions on all of its 4 wheels. That model you show above, however, is terrible. Look at the Mercedes logo on the front grille.
