Those headlights look so fantastic thaaat... I'm a little hesitant to bring this up but looking at pictures, I could have sworn the headlight shape is slightly different on the face-lifted version compared to the earlier model Quattroportes. They appear to be slightly pointier along the bottom, inner portion of the headlights compared to earlier models, which appear a bit more squared off in that area... is that just me??
You're absolutely right! But "slightly different" is the point here. The changes are so minimal that it would be hard to work it out in scale visibly but mean a lot of effort.
And it would afford new lamp covers as well. So I decided to keep the old shape here.
It's a hybrid of early and late version anyway with that grille and interior (here were also some changes made with the facelift) so I just concentrate on enhancing the overall appearance, not on every single detail as usual.

I think you've more than accomplished that here raidou! The headlights do look spectacular anyway. The original hotwheels model is average at best but this one is looking amazing as always.

So... waiting on a Q7 V12 TDI from you now

WHEW! It needed the complete sunday at the workbench but I could get a large step ahead...

After I copied the whole work for the other side, I primed the complete interior with matte white and then I airbrushed it in Avorio (self mixed from Revell #301 and #314).
Carpet in Deep Blue (self mixed as well) and wood trim Vavona (Revell #382) were added and then it came to the detail. I was a bit scared to do the seat piping, because black on bright ground doesn't pardon any fault.

After having a drink (or some more
) to calm down my nerves I gave it a try.
The result is not 'state of the art' but I'm quite satisfied.

Just have a look...

Once again the poor basis:

...the set targed...:

...and the result:

Now I hope it won't last too long til I can show you the finished car finally.

Again I worked on it the whole Sunday and it's 95% done.

Today's work:
- brake discs adjusted to fit in the new rims, then painted
- calipers painted dark blue
- rims painted (they look a bit odd on the pics, don't know why
)
- doors attached, mirrors painted and attached
- headliner painted
- interior and undercarriage re-assembled, wheels mounted
- details like door handles and side indicators painted
- window trim cut from BMF and applied
- exhausts cut from a brass tube, painted chrome silver and attached

Much effort but it was worth it. Though it can't deny its derivation (doglegs and closed back doors and trunk still tell the low-budget source) it doesn't need to hide in second row of the cabinet anymore.

Still missing are fine mesh and the foglamps in the front bumper and window panes for the front doors. For both I need to wait for the ordered material.
