First i will address the elephant in the room: ths model is not a peak Autoart; it's not up to normal Autoart standards, there are big doglegs, the hood won't stay up, the doors and trunklid won't open as wide as they should, there are not seatbelts, worst, they tried to bizarrely replicate the seatbelts molded together with seats, since in the real car they are seat mounted. But strangely(or not) it works. The model is lovely. The exterior ir great, the chrome details are superb, the overall lines are spot on, the headlights very well finished.
The fact that i personally love this generation of the CL class surely helps, but the little things that made Autoart such a beloved brand are present: the small "F1 Limited Edition" badges all around, the wheels and brakes, the nice detailed engine. For such an old model there are some neat details even today, like the flocking material on the door cards and lower section of the dash, like the real car, and even carbon decals! I am glad i didn't pass on this one.

Yes the CL appeared on the very first A4 size Autoart catalogue of 2001.

This model is almost 20 years old now. The CL600 in black was my first ever Aa and I had plonked in more than 2.5x times what I had paid for Maistos and Bburagos before it. I had even told the seller that this would be my first and last premium model. Famous last words. Never got a chance to get the AMG version as only a few of them ever made it here and I had already plonked some money on the Mustang Bullitt and Mitsubishis.

Congrats on the add! I've got the same one, the hood doesn't stay up on my one either. I still like it, despite it showing its age a bit now though.
I am aware that the CL model is bit old but didnt realise it was one of their first. I got a non AMG silver dealer version and came with the ridiculous but super cool graphite base plate. Damn thing was so heavy that it costed extra in postage weight LOL
I saw one with that once, man that was a crazy idea of theirs! It looks cool, but yeah it's so heavy!

Indeed it is. That graphite base alone weighs more than the model and I thought the seller was talking crazy when she described the model base being very heavy becase in my mind, the plinth can only be made as hard plastic or hard cardboard wrapped in leather. In my case, the cardboard packaging almost couldnt hold the heavy base in place and it shifted during transit fortunately it didnt move freely and smashed the model. However one of the doors popped up during transit but luckily i was able to snap it back in place.

I hate it when sellers don't realise the weight and put it in a box that can barely hold it, i.e single sided cardboard boxes etc. I just don't know what Mercedes were thinking, maybe they never realised that people would buy the model later on and have to have it shipped :(
