Glad that someone is finally doing this and who better than you. Few years ago, I got myself a cheap example just to wipe off the decals and have myself a road going red pig. Unlike the other cars, the #35 Triumph car is tampo printed and that way laid my plans since I have zero skills to repaint the car if things go south. Looking forward keenly to seeing the end result. Meanwhile, I have a silver HW to provide some solace.

Awesome, I used to have a red one way back!

I won't be doing silver but I'm hoping Marrone Dino will work nicely with the muscular benz

Don't blame you for deciding not to mess with tampos, I've had mixed results myself

Yeah I hear ya, I wasn't sure myself! But it looks like a nice dark-ish brown without direct light, and under direct light it really brightens up and the flakes are lovely. I would take it out into the natural light but it is Canada and it is January so I'm sure you understand being in UK yourself that there is no natural light at the moment 😂

Alright so the real car has these massive fog lights at the front and I really felt like my model looked incomplete without them.

so I got these 3D printed fog lights from SpotModel. On the real thing they're two different sizes. Couldn't find that in 1/18 scale unfortunately.

also instead of black, I decided to paint match the fog light housing to the body. The rim will be chrome, I think it should come out nice

Clear coated the fog lights

also decided to paint match the cam covers, which were previously just unpainted black plastic

spruced up the stock rad and added a fan

really just improving stock parts mostly, with the addition of colour coding and photoetch/machined metal parts and some weathering

ITBs will nest in the middle instead of the intake manifold kinda like in this pic here

progress so far
