Alright I started on the engine and the rough inspiration is based off the silver tribute car, which is different from the racing version

I also decided to paint match the cam covers for that restomod look and attach the various rivets and such

close up look

Also started on the fuel line coupling

Alright the fog lights are on and looking great in my opinion. The front end really looked like it was missing something without them

before and after
There would be no reason not to add the upper set of headlamps that are blocked out on the race version (just a suggestion!).
The rules of the time allowed only six forward facing lamps, but haven't been able to work out why.
After all the old full length Spa circuit was dangerous enough as it was, and eight lights can only have been as blinding as six.....
It's looking good, but I still shed tears for the loss of a racing saloon car from the dangerously glorious days gone by.:)

I have thought about the upper headlights, I'm just not sure if there's a clear lens behind the black paint. It's also blacked out on the silver tribute car, so I figure I'm alright leaving it as is. Don't shed tears, the original had cracked decals and it was - in my opinion - the less good looking yellow car, looking more like a taxi cab than a race car. I'm still retaining the rollcage and basically the entire interior

People in Berlin will tell you these Mercedes W109 cars were a must have for wealthier taxi owners. :)
Last time I was there, I don't remember seeing any other brand being used!
